About The Position

The Senior Portfolio Item Manager leads the planning, execution, and oversight of a portfolio of assigned material assets in support of Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal agency missions. This role applies advanced item management, supply chain, logistics, lifecycle management, and project leadership expertise to sustain readiness, improve asset availability, and ensure accountable material management across the portfolio. As required by our governmental client, this position requires an active SECRET clearance to be considered. A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in logistics management, supply chain management, or a business-related field.
  • Current project management certification.
  • Two to three years of demonstrated experience leading medium- to large-scale projects.
  • At least 10 years of combined experience supporting DoD or other federal agencies in one or more of the following disciplines: Financial management, Program management, Information technology, Material management, Logistics
  • At least three years of item management experience.
  • At least three years of Major Command or Headquarters staff experience.
  • At least five years of material management experience using a Logistics Information System (LIS).
  • At least five years of experience serving as a government or civilian project lead or team lead.
  • DAU Lifecycle Logistics Level I certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and related applications.
  • Active Secret security clearance required on the first day of performance.
  • Must pass pre-employment requirements of Cherokee Federal.
  • Must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of assigned items throughout the material lifecycle, including forecasting, requirements determination, acquisition planning, sustainment, inventory management, redistribution, repair, and disposal coordination.
  • Analyze inventory levels, demand history, supply status, repair activity, asset availability, and readiness impacts to identify material risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Use Logistics Information Systems (LIS) to maintain accurate item records, conduct research, monitor transactions, analyze material requirements, and develop portfolio management recommendations.
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve supply availability, reduce backorders, mitigate shortages, and optimize inventory investment.
  • Lead medium- to large-scale logistics, material management, or supply chain projects from initiation through implementation and closeout.
  • Establish project plans, schedules, milestones, action-item trackers, performance measures, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Serve as a government or contractor team lead, coordinating work assignments, priorities, deliverables, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide senior-level support to Major Command and Headquarters staff by preparing analyses, recommendations, decision papers, briefings, reports, and executive-level correspondence.
  • Coordinate with program managers, product support managers, supply chain personnel, depot and maintenance activities, financial managers, contracting personnel, and other functional stakeholders.
  • Support financial planning, funding execution, inventory investment analysis, and resource prioritization associated with assigned material portfolios.
  • Identify and resolve material management issues involving demand, supply, inventory, obsolescence, repair, sourcing, distribution, and lifecycle sustainment.
  • Develop customer-ready briefings, reports, spreadsheets, and presentation materials using Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Ensure work complies with applicable DoD, federal agency, customer, contract, logistics, material management, and security requirements.
  • Safeguard classified, sensitive, and controlled information in accordance with applicable security policies and procedures.
