About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking an energetic and self-motivated Senior Plumbing Designer with 8+ years of experience for their San Diego office. The successful individual will have experience in the design of plumbing systems for offices, military construction, hospitals, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities. In addition, the individual must be comfortable consulting to architectural practices and have a desire to work on a multi-discipline engineering team.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience designing plumbing systems for commercial buildings.
• B.A. or B.S. from an accredited college in a related field.
• Knowledge of relevant codes: mechanical, energy, plumbing.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Proficient in CAD and BIM, including recognition of standards and the clash detection process.
• Extensive knowledge of codes and design and construction practices.
• Experienced with the latest release of AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD and BIM tools common to the discipline.
• Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail oriented, possess a high degree of accuracy.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.

Nice To Haves

• Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform self-directed design work.
• Design domestic hot/cold systems, waste and vent systems, grease waste systems (including grease interceptors), condensate drainage and condensate recovery systems, natural gas and propane design, compressed air, lab gasses, and med gasses.
• Train and assign work to Designers and CAD professionals.
• Work from detailed sketches to produce computer-generated graphs, charts, overlays, and isometric drawings.
• Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine the best approach for the completion of drawings.
• Design layouts, details, and overall system design for typical plumbing systems.
• Work with numerous project teams to assist with project completion.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned.
