About The Position

OHM Advisors is seeking a Plumbing Designer to join their Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) team. This entry-level role will contribute to the design of plumbing and fire protection systems for a variety of projects including commercial, healthcare, educational, municipal, industrial, and institutional. The position offers the chance to collaborate with experienced engineers and designers to develop coordinated building system designs that enhance functionality, efficiency, and sustainability. OHM Advisors is looking for a motivated individual eager to learn and grow in a collaborative setting, providing mentorship, hands-on project experience, and opportunities for technical growth.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in drafting, CAD, engineering technology, construction technology, or a related field.
  • 0–3 years of experience in plumbing, MEP, building systems design, drafting (internship, co-op, vocational, or professional experience is welcomed).
  • Experience with Revit is required.
  • Basic understanding of plumbing systems, construction drawings, or building design principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively on multidisciplinary project teams.
  • A desire to learn, grow, and build a career in MEP design.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering or engineering technology discipline is preferred.
  • AutoCAD, Bluebeam or other CAD/BIM software, is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop plumbing and fire protection system layouts and construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Assist with plumbing fixture counts, pipe sizing, and other design calculations.
  • Coordinate plumbing designs with mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, and civil disciplines.
  • Support the preparation of project specifications, reports, and other technical documentation.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings with internal teams and clients.
  • Assist with construction administration activities, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and participating in site visits.
  • Apply plumbing codes, building codes, and OHM design standards throughout the design process.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge through mentorship, training, and hands-on project experience.
