Senior PLM Developer

SyberJet Aircraft•San Antonio, TX

About The Position

SyberJet Aircraft is seeking a highly skilled developer to own its CAA codebase and the internal services and servers supporting its PLM environment. The role combines CAA C++ application development for NX and CATIA V5 with back-end development and production operations. CAA work includes interactive commands, workbench add-ins, feature and data extensions, and batch utilities used for design work on certificated aircraft. Back-end work includes APIs, cloud functions, databases, server maintenance, deployments, and production debugging. The role requires a reproducible build from source control, documented prerequisites, clean interfaces, and experience shipping CAA applications and running back-end services in production. The environment includes CATIA V5, Siemens NX 2412/2506, Teamcenter 2506 with Active Workspace, C#, ASP.NET Core / .NET Core, Azure Functions, and Azure Database for MySQL. The developer will collaborate with the Teamcenter development team, maintain the application and CAD license servers and Azure resources, own deployments across DEV, UAT, and Production, and ensure tools used on certificated design data are controlled and traceable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or 20+ years as a developer.
  • 8+ years of professional C++ development.
  • 10+ years of CAA V5 RADE development, with applications in production use.
  • 10+ years of back-end development in C# and .NET Core or a comparable stack, with services built and run in production.
  • 10+ years of aerospace experience, defined as direct work on aircraft, engine, or aerostructure programs at an OEM, Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier, or as an embedded engineering-services resource. General manufacturing, automotive, or consulting work that briefly touched an aerospace client does not count.
  • Command of the CAA object model, including CATBaseUnknown, interfaces and QueryInterface, smart pointers and reference counting, code and data extensions, late typing, and the interface dictionary.
  • Command of the CAA build environment, including frameworks, modules, Identity Cards, mk, mkmk, runtime views, and prerequisite management.
  • Interactive command development experience with CATStateCommand, dialog agents, and CATDlg.
  • Production use of Mechanical Modeler, Part Design or Generative Shape Design, and Product Structure interfaces.
  • Experience migrating a CAA codebase across at least one CATIA V5 release level.
  • Relational database design and SQL experience with MySQL or SQL Server.
  • Hands-on server administration experience, including Windows Server, patching, certificates, monitoring, and backups.
  • Deployment automation experience with CI/CD pipelines, scripted releases, rollback, and Git-based source control.
  • Production debugging experience using the Visual Studio debugger for CAA code inside CATIA, and logs, traces, and telemetry for back-end services.
  • Completion of an onsite evaluation at SyberJet's facility.
  • CAA applications shipped into production use by engineers; VBA, CATScript, or CATIA Automation experience alone does not qualify.
  • Back-end services built and operated in production.

Nice To Haves

  • Custom features using Feature Modeler and startup catalogs.
  • Geometric Modeler and topological operators.
  • Drafting and Functional Tolerancing & Annotation interfaces.
  • CAA development for CATIA.
  • Teamcenter–CATIA integration or Teamcenter ITK experience.
  • CATIA Knowledgeware, including rules, checks, and PowerCopies, and CATIA Automation.
  • NX Automation and script development.
  • Production experience with Azure Functions, App Service, and Azure Database for MySQL.
  • CAD license server administration, including DSLS or FlexNet.
  • 509 certificates and PKI for document signing or service authentication.
  • Python or PowerShell for build and operations tooling.
  • Work in an FAA Part 21 environment with controlled engineering software tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop CAA C++ applications, including interactive commands, workbenches and add-ins, dialogs, and batch utilities.
  • Automate repetitive design work, including standard-part insertion, parameter and attribute population, pre-release model checks, and 3D annotation tasks.
  • Build feature and data extensions that carry engineering attributes required by Teamcenter downstream.
  • Replace fragile VBA and CATScript macros with supported CAA tools where appropriate.
  • Maintain CAA V5 RADE workspaces, frameworks, prerequisites, and runtime views, ensuring builds are reproducible from source control.
  • Plan and execute CAA code migration for CATIA V5 releases and service packs, including regression testing.
  • Set coding standards, review code, and track defects through closure.
  • Ensure CAA applications work correctly with Teamcenter-managed CATIA data, including attribute mapping and save and check-in behavior.
  • Work with the Teamcenter development team on data exchanged between CATIA and Teamcenter.
  • Construct a Weight and Balance application using C# and Microsoft Azure integration.
  • Develop LOTAR tools for nightly data validation, including STEP AP242 validation and maintenance.
  • Design, build, and maintain C# / .NET Core APIs, Azure Functions, and database schemas supporting internal engineering applications.
  • Build the service side of integrations with Teamcenter and CAD.
  • Write and tune SQL schemas, migrations, indexes, and queries for audit and reporting data.
  • Secure services with authentication, authorization, certificate management, and audit logging.
  • Maintain application servers, CAD license servers, and Azure resources, including patching, monitoring, backups, certificates, and capacity.
  • Own deployments across DEV, UAT, and Production for back-end services and CAA tools on engineering workstations, including CI/CD pipelines, release packaging, and rollback plans.
  • Automate routine operations with PowerShell.
  • Diagnose CAA crashes and defects using the Visual Studio debugger, NX / CATIA traces, and dump analysis.
  • Debug production back-end issues using logs, telemetry, HTTP traces, and database queries, and investigate them to root cause.
  • Write design documentation, deployment runbooks, and user guides, and train support staff.
  • Validate and document every change so tools used on certificated design data remain controlled and traceable.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • A collaborative, engineering-driven, innovative work environment.
  • The chance to work on cutting-edge aerospace projects with a talented team of professionals.
