Senior Platform Software Engineer

Oracle•Nashville, TN

About The Position

Join Oracle Cloud Infrastructure User Experience Engineering (OCI UXE) to build and maintain the shared UI framework, developer tools, and AI-assisted workflows used by service teams to deliver applications in the OCI Console. The platform combines declarative configuration, reusable templates, API integration, and Oracle’s Redwood design system. Its scope includes the browser runtime, configuration compiler, developer tooling, automated testing, and release and monitoring systems. Own features and improvements in defined areas of the platform, taking work from requirements and design through implementation, validation, deployment, and production support. Collaborate with engineers, designers, and service teams to deliver shared capabilities that benefit OCI applications. Work with TypeScript, JavaScript, Preact, and Oracle JET on framework and template development, developer tooling, Console integration, testing, releases, reliability, and production support. The role includes participating in the team’s on-call rotation, reviewing code and designs, and delivering moderately complex engineering work within established architecture.

Requirements

  • Experience with TypeScript and JavaScript.
  • Experience with Preact and Oracle JET.
  • Ability to independently plan and deliver moderately complex engineering work within established architecture.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineers, designers, and service teams.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve issues across framework, configuration, deployment, plugin integration, and API layers.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and dependency and vulnerability maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain shared UI framework capabilities using TypeScript, JavaScript, Preact, and Oracle JET.
  • Build reusable solutions, configuration-driven templates, and components for resource lists, detail pages, forms, settings, charts, and interactive visualizations.
  • Translate product requirements and Redwood designs into documented and tested framework capabilities.
  • Improve runtime behavior connecting configuration, application state, user actions, and API data; investigate rendering, data dependency, navigation, validation, and asynchronous update issues.
  • Evolve template APIs and TypeScript contracts while considering compatibility across consuming plugins; assess architectural tradeoffs and provide adoption guidance.
  • Improve UXE command-line tools, the configuration compiler, generated API utilities, and type definitions.
  • Develop validation and diagnostic capabilities to identify configuration errors, unsupported patterns, and integration problems before deployment.
  • Help service teams adopt Redwood templates and migrate existing Console experiences; identify shared capability gaps and verify migrated workflows preserve required functionality.
  • Contribute to AI-assisted configuration authoring, migration, and validation tools; evaluate generated output and add regression coverage for confirmed failure patterns.
  • Maintain documentation, examples, and troubleshooting guidance, and turn recurring support questions into platform and developer-experience improvements.
  • Integrate UXE capabilities with Console navigation, routing, feature flags, and tenancy, compartment, and region context.
  • Develop reliable API interactions, including dependent requests, pagination, loading states, error handling, and cancellation; diagnose issues across configuration, generated clients, framework code, and service responses.
  • Collaborate with design and accessibility partners to implement keyboard interaction, accessible labeling, localization support, and clear validation and error feedback.
  • Profile and improve rendering, request execution, and resource usage, and validate optimizations against representative workflows and datasets.
  • Build and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; reproduce defects and add focused regression coverage.
  • Contribute to automated release validation and synthetic monitoring, improve test reliability, and distinguish application regressions from test or environment failures.
  • Participate in packaging, versioning, and releasing shared libraries, runtime plugins, and configuration assets; validate dependency compatibility and support staged deployments, controlled feature enablement, and rollback.
  • Improve build and deployment automation across OCI regions and realms, and investigate failures involving artifacts, configuration delivery, infrastructure, and environment-specific behavior.
  • Maintain useful logs, metrics, alarms, and operational runbooks to help engineers detect problems, assess impact, and restore service.
  • Participate in the team’s on-call rotation; investigate framework, configuration, deployment, and plugin integration issues using logs, telemetry, source code, and reproducible examples.
  • Work with service teams to understand customer impact, communicate findings, deliver fixes or workarounds, and convert recurring incidents into reliability and supportability improvements.
  • Plan and deliver moderately complex engineering work, break it into reviewable increments, identify dependencies and risks, and escalate decisions requiring broader alignment.
  • Review code and technical designs in areas of ownership; apply secure coding practices, maintain supported dependencies, address vulnerabilities, and share knowledge through documentation, technical discussions, and peer guidance.
