About The Position

Sparteo is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to design, operate, and scale the infrastructure foundations that support its products. The Infrastructure & Cloud Services team operates a self-managed platform based on bare-metal infrastructure in the company’s own datacenters, Kubernetes at scale, and a self-managed network using BGP, its own AS, transit, and peering. The role owns critical parts of the stack, leads platform architecture decisions, and helps the team grow. It also contributes to infrastructure expansion in the US and platform-wide cost optimization. The position involves close collaboration with product teams and stakeholders. Sparteo describes its work environment as flexible, with work possible from home or its urban offices in Paris, Lille, or London. The posting includes an unconfirmed location note about being within reach of datacenters for on-site interventions; it does not establish that as a final requirement.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in infrastructure or DevOps.
  • Solid production Kubernetes experience, ideally on bare metal.
  • An automation-first approach to provisioning, configuration management, and GitOps.
  • Strong networking fundamentals, including BGP, L2/L3, and load balancing.
  • Strong communication skills with product teams and stakeholders.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Openness to AI-assisted tooling in daily workflows, using it to automate, document, and work faster.
  • A pragmatic, analytical problem-solving approach; ability to work in a fast-moving environment, prioritize effectively, listen, and contribute to collective progress.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with distributed storage or large-scale databases.
  • Troubleshooting instincts at the kernel, network, and hardware levels.
  • French language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and operate the Kubernetes platform, including networking, ingress, GitOps, and configuration management.
  • Own CI/CD pipelines and packaging, applying automation from provisioning through deployment.
  • Operate the observability stack, including large-scale metrics and log management.
  • Own runbooks and the alerting catalog to support platform reliability and actionable on-call practices.
  • Operate data infrastructure, including distributed storage, analytical and relational databases, and in-memory datastores.
  • Scale physical infrastructure through server procurement, rack upgrades, and network-capacity improvements.
  • Contribute to cost optimization across the platform.
  • Participate in expanding infrastructure in the US.
  • Lead platform architecture decisions.
  • Mentor junior team members and share best practices across the team.

Benefits

  • Flexible work environment, with remote work or access to offices in Paris, Lille, or London.
