About The Position

The Senior Platform Engineer will join the Navy Delivery team and work across platform engineering, application development, DevOps, and application security. The role helps application teams integrate, package, secure, deploy, and operate software on the Unicorn Delivery Service (UDS) and in Kubernetes-based environments. The engineer will work across the application/platform boundary, including application source code, APIs, containers, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes resources, Helm charts, and production runtime concerns. They will collaborate with application teams to understand software build and operational needs, translate those needs into repeatable deployment artifacts and processes, and troubleshoot issues across application and platform layers. Application technologies in use include React, Vue, NGINX-hosted static assets, C#/.NET services, and Python/FastAPI services; experience with every technology is not required. The role supports varied technical baselines and may involve CI/CD components, runner deployments and maintenance, UDS packaging, Kubernetes and Helm configuration, application observability, security controls, and process automation. The engineer will connect custom, commercial off-the-shelf, and open-source applications with the Navy platform environment, advocate best practices, collaborate with application and platform teams, and contribute to strategic planning aligned with mission objectives. Travel is expected 4–12 times per year.
