Senior Personal Injury Pre-Litigation Attorney
About The Position
J&Y Law is a California plaintiff personal injury law firm seeking an experienced Senior Pre-Litigation Attorney to independently manage high-value, complex cases and serve as a mentor and leader within its Pre-Litigation Department. The attorney will manage plaintiff personal injury cases from intake through strategic settlement, evaluate liability, insurance coverage, medical treatment and damages, negotiate settlements, and provide clients with ongoing guidance. The role also includes mentoring junior attorneys and staff and collaborating with firm leadership to improve department processes and performance.
Requirements
- Active California Bar license in good standing.
- At least 8 years of plaintiff personal injury experience, with a heavy emphasis on pre-litigation.
- Proven track record of negotiating substantial, high-value settlements.
- Leadership or mentoring experience in a fast-paced legal environment.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual in English and Spanish; highly preferred.
- Experience handling catastrophic injury, wrongful death, trucking, and premises liability claims.
- Formal experience supervising legal staff or junior attorneys.
Responsibilities
- Independently direct high-value plaintiff personal injury cases from intake through strategic settlement.
- Draft comprehensive demand packages and negotiate with insurance adjusters and defense counsel.
- Participate in mediations to maximize client recovery.
- Analyze complex liability, insurance coverage, medical treatment progression, and damages.
- Transition cases bound for litigation seamlessly.
- Guide and review the work of junior attorneys, case managers, and support staff, and provide mentorship.
- Collaborate with firm leadership to refine standard operating procedures, improve workflow efficiency, and elevate department performance.
- Serve as the primary trusted advisor to clients, providing high-touch guidance and regular case updates.
