Reporting to the North American Payroll Manager, the Senior Payroll Specialist plays a key role in the accurate and compliant delivery of U.S. payroll operations across iA Financial Group subsidiaries, while contributing to strategic, cross-functional payroll initiatives. Requirements

  • Holds an associate degree or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or any other equivalent training.
  • Has more than 10 years of experience in U.S. payroll or in a similar role.
  • Is recognized for advanced expertise in U.S. payroll processes, including multi-state payroll and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Stands out for strong knowledge of the Workday Payroll module.
  • Demonstrates excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Shows strong adaptability, ownership, and the ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments.
  • Is known for exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Manages multiple priorities efficiently while meeting deadlines.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

  • Holds a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.

Responsibilities

  • Process U.S. payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Track and manage employee life events such as hiring, compensation changes, service awards, leaves of absence, and terminations.
  • Administer special payments including board meeting fees, stock purchase plans, severance payments, and other non-standard earnings.
  • Participate in annual payroll processes such as bonus payments, vacation and PTO calculations, W-2 production, 1095-C and ACA reporting, and open enrollment for group insurance.
  • Complete and submit required payroll forms to government authorities.
  • Set up new state payroll accounts.
  • Provide payroll data and documentation to support internal and external audits.
  • Produce payroll reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Issue Records of Employment (ROEs).
  • Respond to Tier 2 payroll inquiries with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and maturity.
  • Ensure payroll activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Support cross-functional payroll-related projects in collaboration with VPTC partners.
  • Act as a key contributor during mergers, acquisitions, business integrations, and HR practice harmonization initiatives.
  • Perform payroll and system testing in Workday in collaboration with the HRIS team.
