About The Position

The Nuclear Legal Affairs team plays a critical role in supporting some of Canada's most significant nuclear programs, including reactor refurbishment projects, new nuclear development initiatives, technology licensing, engineering services, major procurements, strategic partnerships, and international nuclear opportunities. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Paralegal to join our Nuclear Legal Affairs team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside lawyers, project executives, commercial leaders, procurement professionals and engineers on complex and strategically important projects in a highly regulated industry. The successful candidate will become an integral member of a collaborative legal team that values innovation, continuous improvement, practical problem solving, and the effective use of technology to enhance legal service delivery. Working closely with legal counsel and business stakeholders, the Senior Paralegal will support a broad range of commercial, regulatory, governance, intellectual property, dispute resolution and legal operations activities across the nuclear business. As a Senior Paralegal within the Nuclear Legal Affairs team, you will contribute directly to the legal support of Canada's nuclear industry. You will work on matters involving complex engineering projects, strategic commercial arrangements, significant intellectual property assets, regulatory compliance requirements, and major project dispute resolution while helping drive innovation and modernization within the legal function. Requirements

  • Paralegal Diploma, Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent legal education.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience as a paralegal or legal professional.
  • Experience working within an in-house legal department, law firm, or complex commercial environment.
  • Strong experience reviewing, organizing and managing legal and commercial documentation.
  • Ability to manage confidential and commercially sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.

  • Experience supporting major infrastructure, engineering, energy or nuclear projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support legal counsel in the preparation, review, execution and administration of commercial agreements.
  • Maintain and organize contract repositories and legal document management systems.
  • Track key contractual obligations, milestone dates, renewal periods, warranties, guarantees and notice requirements.
  • Prepare contract summaries, obligation trackers and legal issue logs.
  • Coordinate execution of legal agreements and maintain executed agreement records.
  • Support legal counsel and project teams on major project documentation and contract administration matters.
  • Assist with the management of intellectual property records, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and technology licensing agreements.
  • Maintain records relating to confidentiality obligations and proprietary technology.
  • Support intellectual property protection initiatives and technology transfer activities.
  • Assist with maintenance of legal records relating to CANDU technology and related proprietary information.
  • Support corporate governance processes and maintenance of corporate records.
  • Assist with preparation of resolutions, officer certificates, powers of attorney and related corporate documentation.
  • Coordinate corporate filings and compliance activities.
  • Support legal and regulatory compliance initiatives applicable to the nuclear business.
  • Assist with internal investigations, audits and regulatory inquiries.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of legal processes and systems.
  • Maintain legal precedents, templates, guidance documents and knowledge repositories.
  • Support legal spend management, invoice processing and reporting.
  • Prepare presentations, dashboards, reports and management updates.
  • Assist with implementation of legal technology tools and AI-enabled workflows that improve efficiency and service delivery.
