Senior OT Engineer

Valar Atomics•Torrance, CA

About The Position

Valar Atomics is hiring a Senior OT Engineer within its Engineering organization. The Instrumentation & Controls team designs systems that monitor, automate, and protect the company’s facilities and reactor technologies. OT Engineering delivers power and rack infrastructure, compute, networks, identity, physical and cyber security, operational data, and industrial software platforms such as FactoryTalk. FactoryTalk work covers backend deployment, configuration, integration, and recovery; PLC programming and controls-code development are outside this role. The role takes defined implementation or testing objectives through planning, execution, troubleshooting, and verified delivery. The engineer owns assigned systems and makes decisions within established standards, resolving interfaces with other engineers. It calls for hands-on implementation or rigorous testing, evidence-based troubleshooting, commissioning and recovery work, and accurate configuration and handoff documentation. The position requires travel to Valar Atomics’ Orangeville, Utah facility approximately 15% of the time.

Requirements

  • Independently deliver an implementation or rigorous hands-on test work package from a defined objective to verified completion.
  • Plan methods, interfaces, dependencies, resources, testing, and turnover within established standards.
  • Diagnose causes using measurements or recorded evidence and verify that corrective actions resolve the problem.
  • Maintain controlled configurations and usable records; coordinate interfaces and escalate decisions beyond authority.
  • Demonstrate at least one specialty: power distribution and backup; racks and cabling; compute, storage, and virtualization; industrial software backends; networking; hands-on testing and technical documentation; Windows domain administration; access control; central logging and authentication; log and packet analysis; or operational data systems.
  • Be highly organized, with disciplined task tracking, accurate documentation, clear priorities, and reliable follow-through.
  • Independently progress from a defined objective to a working, verified result, with timely escalation of design or scope decisions.
  • Have strong depth in one or more disciplines and sufficient interface awareness to work effectively with other specialists.
  • Troubleshoot persistently using evidence and verify results rather than stopping at an apparent fix.
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Responsibilities

  • Turn defined objectives into implementation or test plans covering prerequisites, equipment or configuration needs, dependencies, tests, and recovery steps.
  • Independently implement and operate systems or prepare, execute, and diagnose system tests within the assigned scope.
  • Diagnose faults using measurements, logs, test results, and system behavior, and verify that corrective actions resolve the problem.
  • Plan and execute commissioning, failure, and recovery tests with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Resolve integration issues with other engineers and identify when requirements or designs need revision.
  • Complete delivery with accurate configurations, executable procedures, test evidence, and usable handoff records.
  • Travel to the Orangeville, Utah facility approximately 15% of the time.
  • Coordinate system interfaces and escalate decisions that exceed assigned authority.
