About The Position

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is seeking a Senior Operations Specialist to join their Operations Support team. This role involves reviewing, approving, and tracking construction billing invoices for gas and electric services, including smart metering and purchase requisitions. The specialist will also assist with financial, statistical, and operational studies to support PSE Operations teams' initiatives and reporting needs. Key responsibilities include supporting capital and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) budget reporting and tracking, processing service provider invoices, and contributing to system and process improvements. The position emphasizes upholding safety compliance and conducting business ethically and in accordance with the Code of Conduct and regulatory obligations.

Requirements

  • AA/AS in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years experience in department or related field.
  • Knowledge of FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) Accounting.
  • Experience in Process Improvement techniques.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite including Access and Visio.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple responsibilities to meet plans & goals.
  • Ability to work effectively to tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to present information in a professional manner.
  • Works effectively in a matrix environment.

  • Proficient in review of complex utility-level electric construction billing invoices.
  • Proficiency with BW.
  • Experience working in the gas and/or electric industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intensive review, approval, and tracking of all types of service provider utility-level gas and electric construction billing invoices, including smart metering and purchase requisitions.
  • Assist in financial, statistical, and operational studies to support initiatives and on-going informational reporting needs of PSE Operations teams.
  • Support department functions including capital and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) budget reporting and tracking.
  • Process all types of service provider invoices.
  • Support the development of system and process improvements and solutions.
  • Uphold safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures.
  • Promote and support a culture of total safety.
  • Conduct business honestly, ethically, and consistent with core values and Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Receive and audit simple and complex service provider gas job packets for completeness, data integrity, correct account coding, and documentation via on-line systems (SAP, Ariba, Locusview, Esri, OpenText, etc.) and other sources such as electronic (MTT) and red-lined as-builts.
  • Develop Ad hoc Reporting with minimal assistance.
  • Collect and analyze cost and operational data from internal and external resources.
  • Support Operations capital and O&M budgeting and monthly reporting process, using specific methodologies for evaluation and prioritization, and producing regular reports to monitor performance.
  • Perform routine accounting functions, such as journal entries.
  • Maintain the accuracy of financial records by ensuring that for every transaction, the total debits equal the total credits.
  • Research and resolve data, accounting, and forecast problems.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders and management.
  • Perform weekly/monthly problem order review and order clean-up functions.
  • Provide training and mentoring to other team members and departments on work processes.
  • Assess training needs and provide ongoing guidance to help employees improve their skills and perform tasks effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
