Senior Operations Manager
About The Position
Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Senior Operations Manager within its Environmental Operations (EO) Group at the Midshore II Regional Landfill in Ridgely, Maryland. The position plans, coordinates, and directs the facility’s daily operations while ensuring that operations are safe, efficient, and compliant. The Senior Operations Manager also serves as the primary liaison between MES Headquarters and facility personnel, providing leadership, operational oversight, and strategic support. The estimated pay range is $77,226.24–$106,186.08. The position is open until filled. An employment offer is contingent on successfully completing required pre-employment screening, including a full background check, drug and alcohol screening, and a position-appropriate physical. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; MES does not participate in visa sponsorship programs.
Requirements
- High school graduation or GED plus 7 years of applicable experience and 4 years of supervisory experience in field operations, recycling/solid waste, bio-solids management, or construction activities; OR 10 years of progressively responsive experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment or working in field operations applicable to the hiring facility, including a lead role in field operations, recycling/solid waste, or construction activities.
- A related accredited vocational school program may count for up to 2 years of experience, or an applicable college degree may count for 3 years of experience.
- Valid driver’s license with fewer than 5 points.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and direct the daily operations of the assigned facility.
- Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations.
- Serve as the primary liaison between MES Headquarters and facility personnel.
- Provide leadership, operational oversight, and strategic support.
