About The Position

The Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer oversees operations in Akamai’s global data centers, monitoring and maintaining data centers, networks, and servers worldwide. The role works directly with data center Network Operations Centers by phone, email, and web portals. The Network Infrastructure team plans, deploys, and maintains hardware; coordinates with on-site technicians; manages equipment availability and inventory; and handles hardware infrastructure management, including cabinet planning, equipment tracking, documentation, firmware upgrades, and equipment retirement.

Requirements

8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree.
Experience in a NOC environment with hands-on hardware experience.
Knowledge of computer hardware and networking equipment.
Solid troubleshooting skills in a large-scale data center environment.
Understanding of Linux system administration, server administration, and internals.
Professional problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Deploy and repair servers, storage systems, routers, switches, and other hardware.
Install hardware, cabling, firmware, and software on-site and remotely.
Manage hardware decommissioning projects, including hardware disposal and data destruction.
Ship and receive networking equipment to maintain network availability and reliability.
Perform project work for data center migrations and hardware platform upgrades.
Coordinate data center deployments from hardware requests through rack design.
Monitor and maintain data centers, networks, and servers worldwide.
Interact directly with data center Network Operations Centers by phone, email, and web portals.
