About The Position

Evolent’s Senior Software Engineer leads the design, development, and deployment of complex software solutions, with a focus on scalability and maintainability. The role architects and implements high-performance APIs and microservices for critical business functions and collaborates with product managers, UX designers, and engineers to translate business needs into technical solutions. It contributes to project technical vision, architecture discussions, and long-term planning, while mentoring junior engineers.

The engineer is expected to use approved AI-assisted tools throughout the engineering lifecycle, from requirements and architecture to coding, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and operational support. They remain accountable for validating all outputs and ensuring quality, security, privacy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to Responsible AI standards. The position also works with architecture, security, and platform teams to integrate AI-enabled capabilities into enterprise applications.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience delivering complex, scalable applications.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, such as C#, Java, or Python, and familiarity with their ecosystems.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft and .NET technologies, specifically .NET Core, C#, and T-SQL.
• Experience building scalable, performant RESTful APIs using ASP.NET.
• Relational database development experience, preferably with SQL Server.
• Experience with at least one testing framework, such as xUnit, NUnit, or MSTest; one logging framework, such as NLog, log4net, or Serilog; and one ORM framework, such as Dapper, Entity Framework, or NHibernate.
• Deep understanding of software architecture patterns, including microservices, event-driven architecture, and RESTful API design.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, and container orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Expertise in database design and optimization for SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with GitHub, Azure Git, or another Git-based source control system, including pull requests.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a globally distributed team of technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues quickly.
• Strong communication skills, including leading technical discussions, presenting to stakeholders, and writing detailed documentation.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• High-speed home internet over 10 Mbps.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with AI-assisted development platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, AI-assisted testing, and AI-enabled software delivery practices.
• Experience integrating AI services, models, or agents into production applications.
• Experience with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue, including Single Page Application development.
• Experience with additional back-end technologies such as Node.js, Django, or Spring Boot.
• Experience with EMR integration.
• Experience with NoSQL data stores such as Elasticsearch.

Responsibilities

• Validate AI-generated outputs for correctness, security, maintainability, compliance, and business appropriateness.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity and solution quality through AI-enabled workflows and automation.
• Contribute reusable prompts, skills, agents, and AI-assisted development patterns for the team.
• Partner with architecture, security, and platform teams to integrate AI-enabled capabilities into enterprise applications.
• Follow enterprise policies for AI use, intellectual property, security, privacy, PHI handling, and Responsible AI.
• Avoid using confidential, regulated, or protected information with unapproved AI services or tools.
• Participate in peer reviews and validation processes for AI-assisted solutions.
