Senior Medical Assistant - Gastroenterology
About The Position
BJC Medical Group is hiring a full-time Senior Medical Assistant for its outpatient Gastroenterology team in O'Fallon, Missouri. The role provides patient care under the direction of a physician or other licensed professional and follows practice protocols and procedures. The Senior Medical Assistant also serves as an experienced role model in a functional practice area, such as lab testing, OSHA/CLIA compliance, electronic health record management, specialty medical assisting, medical supplies management, or cross-training other practice positions. The position is 40 hours per week on the day shift, is benefit eligible, and has no call, weekend, or holiday work. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is available to eligible candidates.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2–5 years of experience.
- Certification or registration in the area of expertise.
Nice To Haves
- 5–10 years of experience.
- Less than 2 years of supervisor experience.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Responsibilities
- Clean, prepare, and stock supplies in exam rooms.
- Obtain vital signs and patient history, and maintain accurate, prompt charting in patient records.
- Perform clinical skills such as phlebotomy, electrocardiography (EKGs), point-of-care testing, and injections.
- Triage calls, provide test and lab results to patients, and present relevant information to providers using correct medical terminology.
- Assist providers by preparing patients for exams, procedures, and treatments.
- Serve as an experienced role model in a functional practice area, such as lab testing, OSHA/CLIA compliance, electronic health record management, specialty practice medical assisting, medical supplies management, or cross-training.
