About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Kansas City, Missouri, to lead mechanical design efforts as either a project manager or lead engineer. The position leads moderate-to-complex projects and, with limited senior-staff support, contributes to larger, high-complexity projects. The engineer works with clients, engineers, consultants, architects, and project managers to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice. The role includes managing project budgets and schedules, mentoring staff, supporting healthcare and MEP work, and advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030. The position is full-time and hybrid, with travel up to 20%. Sponsorship is not available. The role offers two paths. On the Technical Path, the engineer leads HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system analysis and design; prepares specifications, calculations, and reports; performs site assessments; reviews designs and project correspondence; supports quality control, safety, field issue resolution, training, and innovation; and collaborates on integrated solutions and project presentations. On the Project Management Path, the engineer coordinates and manages projects, supports scope and fee development, proposals, and contract reviews, creates schedules, serves as a team and client contact, manages billings and financial projections, oversees design quality and deliverables, coordinates design and construction activities, leads meetings, conducts site visits, resolves client and construction concerns, manages change orders, and develops staff and client relationships. The team primarily supports healthcare work, along with education, civic, and cultural projects. Its portfolio includes full-scope MEP projects and related fire protection, telecom, security, and audiovisual elements in complex institutional environments. IMEG is a 100% employee-owned company and describes its culture as people-centered, collaborative, and innovation-focused.
