Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense. Pratt & Whitney, Compression Systems Manufacturing Center (CSMC) in Middletown, Connecticut is seeking a Process Manufacturing Engineer. CSMC makes complex rotating jet engine parts for military and commercial applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering and 5 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, quality, shop floor or similar environment OR a Master's degree and 3 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, quality, shop floor or similar environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities in a constantly fluctuating work environment
  • Experience reading and interpreting complex blueprints
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Shop Environment

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma project leadership/management/coaching experience
  • Experience in project management tools like MS Projects
  • Previous experience with PW software tools like Solumina, and SAP
  • Experience in using UG/NX, and Team Center software suites
  • Experience in using Minitab and other statistical software for analysis
  • Experience with working on Rotating Gas Turbine Parts
  • Experience in Conventional Manufacturing processes

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct troubleshooting support to the manufacturing shop floor and drive improvement across specific manufacturing processes.
  • Identify & implement process optimization & process control methods to eliminate quality turn backs/escapes and reduce overall product costs through the specific process.
  • Interact with product designers, tool designers, quality assurance, systems designers, and other stakeholders to improve first pass yield through manufacturing processes.
  • Perform Root cause analysis and corrective actions on non-conforming products for responsible processes using statistical analysis tools and other methods.
  • Drive targeted manufacturing process optimization activities using MRL tools such as Process Control Plans and PFMEA.
  • Document problem statements, observations, conclusions, calculations and recommendations.
  • Support the project pipeline process to select, prioritize and scope projects to business objectives, integrated with other continuous improvement activities and CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) initiatives.
  • Schedule and facilitate periodic project reviews and ensure validation.
  • Use effective scorecards and metrics to ensure progress.
  • Lead projects critical to improve manufacturing process capability & quality performance through the assigned processes.
