About The Position

Global Vendor Relationship Manager The Opportunity Global Procurement & Payment (GPP) function at Sun Life is establishing a Global Vendor Relationship team as a result of continuously forming strategic relationship with key vendors and monitoring the risks related to vendors. This is to ensure the compliant to regulatory requirements on key vendors’ management and strengthen Sun Life’s strategic partnership with key vendors. This role is to manage IT categories’ key vendors across Sun Life while supporting the expansion of team’s capacity and capabilities to cover key vendors in other categories, such as Medical Operations, Business Operations, HR, etc. This role reports to Director of Transformation, Global Procurement & Payment.

Requirements

  • A background in IT Software, IT infrastructure, Finance/Insurance Operations is preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to build and maintain trust-based relationships with both our vendors and internal stakeholders, fostering collaboration, alignment, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks while ensuring compliance with legal, risk, information security and other standards.
  • A proven ability to interpret data, identify trends, and resolve issues to improve performance and enhance supplier efficiency.
  • Demonstrable post-deal contract management experience, including ensuring adherence to contract terms and managing a vast portfolio of IT contracts renewal.
  • Proven ability to deliver cost efficiency and added value from contract management, with a sound understanding of financial and business principles.
  • Solid communication skills (Verbal & written) and experience working with global counterparts in North America and Asia.
  • Mindset of Continuous Improvement.
  • 7 years + experience in supplier contracting, risk assessment, information security review process is required;
  • IT vendor management and/or procurement of IT software spend highly preferred
  • Clear, concise, and influential verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Strong problem solving skills required
  • University or college degree in Business Management, Economics, Finance, IT, or a related field;

Nice To Haves

  • MBA is a plus.
  • Project Management skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the performance of vendors against contractual KPIs and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). This also includes meeting with Vendors on new services (and joining the dots across organization) , terminations, SLA interruptions, etc. and mapping out action plans
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks associated with third-party providers, ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Act as a key liaison between internal teams and external vendors to foster collaborative partnerships. Alongside this role involves collaborating with GPP Category & Sourcing and taking the lead on the governance, legal, etc. pieces
  • Manage and track vendor contracts, ensuring accuracy in the database and compliance with agreed terms.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize vendor services, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs by leveraging including but not limited to data, stakeholder feedback and external sources.
  • Understand business needs and act as a liaison to ensure a strong client experience and business performance. In addition to business develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders ( legal, ORO, finance, etc.).
