About The Position

Finance Shared Services (FSS) is RBC’s centralized finance operations engine, operating across five specialized service pillars. This is a newly created strategic role. Lead the strategic transformation and operational excellence agenda for FSS by driving cross-pillar initiatives, architecting business management frameworks, and translating complex operational challenges into actionable insights as a trusted strategic architect who transforms how a large-scale function operates.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in management consulting, strategy, operations, or business management with demonstrated success leading end-to-end transformation programs or efficiency initiatives.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical rigor; proven ability to move from complex data to clear, compelling narratives that influence senior leaders and drive action.
  • Mastery of financial modeling, business case development, and P&L analysis; deep fluency with budgeting frameworks, variance analysis, and forecasting methodologies.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools; ability to build executive-grade dashboards and translate quantitative insights into strategic recommendations.
  • Proven track record of managing cross-functional initiatives and complex programs to time and quality in ambiguous, matrix environments.
  • Rapid learner with ability to quickly master complex financial operations and operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Autonomous thinker comfortable working independently on high-stakes initiatives while exercising sound judgment and managing competing stakeholder interests.
  • Strong executive communication skills (written and verbal); ability to distill complexity into clear, concise narratives for C-suite audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with enterprise shared services models, centralized operations, or global delivery networks.
  • Background in financial services operations, shared services, or finance transformation initiatives; experience with enterprise finance systems, process automation, or digital transformation programs.
  • Experience building organizational capabilities and change management in large, hierarchical organizations.
  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or PMP preferred.
  • Track record of designing and implementing performance management frameworks, OKR systems, or operating models at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead cross-FSS strategic initiatives from conception through execution, owning business cases, implementation roadmaps, and measurable outcomes that drive enterprise value.
  • Own annual business management activities—budget alignment, monthly FTE forecasting, annual department goal-setting, and performance reviews—ensuring strategic initiatives are resourced and organizational priorities drive accountability.
  • Identify and analyze issues of material impact; provide clear recommendations and executive-ready briefs to inform senior leadership decisions; manage rapid-cycle problem-solving on emerging business issues within tight timelines.
  • Translate regulatory and industry shifts into strategic imperatives; lead capability and operational readiness assessments that explore reasonable capability modernization opportunities to drive operational resilience, scalability, and efficiency gains.
  • Lead strategic alignment and change mobilization across FSS leadership and extended stakeholder networks; develop communication strategies and readiness roadmaps that drive organizational adoption of transformation priorities.
  • Orchestrate cross-FSS portfolio of strategic initiatives; establish governance frameworks, sequencing, and dependencies to drive aligned execution, manage trade-offs, and maximize enterprise value realization.
  • Build data-driven business cases for transformation; synthesize cross-pillar impact analysis, validate strategic assumptions against operational realities, and construct compelling financial narratives that guide leadership decisions on priority sequencing.
  • Serve as trusted strategic advisor to FSS leadership on operating model design, capability architecture, and resource optimization decisions; develop scenario analyses and strategic options that inform major organizational choices.
