About The Position

The Senior Manager, Specialty Compliance and Ethics, leads the development and execution of compliance strategies within their area, ensuring adherence to laws, regulations, and company policies. This role drives the creation and enhancement of scalable compliance processes, monitors program effectiveness through key performance indicators (KPIs), and leads continuous improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness. Working cross-functional teams, the role ensures awareness of regulatory changes, assesses business impacts, and supports successful implementation across the organization. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, influence through partnership, and lead by example to foster a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement. The Specialty Compliance and Ethics team provides structured frameworks and proactive guidance to ensure the business meets regulatory obligations with integrity. Focusing on regulatory food labeling compliance, including claims, the team navigates emerging risks confidently. It leads research, policy development, and compliance monitoring while collaborating across functions to address gaps and implement improvements. The team supports continuous learning and effective communication, driving adherence to laws and company standards. By fostering a culture of accountability and ethical conduct, the team enables informed decision-making and sustainable business practices aligned with Walmart’s commitment to excellence and responsible operations.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of compliance experience with an emphasis on building and executing programs.
  • Experience interpreting and applying food labeling requirements, including ingredient statements, allergen declarations, nutrition facts, and claims.
  • Understand FDA and USDA regulatory requirements and their impact on product compliance.
  • Strong expertise in analyzing legislation, regulatory trends, and compliance gaps to develop effective strategies and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and implement technology solutions to enhance compliance programs.
  • Communicate effectively and influence partners across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Take ownership, act with urgency, and proactively identify solutions to complex challenges.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage competing priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field and 4 years’ experience in compliance, ethics, legal, project management, or related area OR 6 years’ experience in compliance, ethics, legal, project management, or related area.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience.
  • 3 years’ experience using intermediate functionality of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead compliance and ethics initiatives by monitoring regulations, addressing inquiries, and updating policies with leadership input.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports on compliance findings, communicating results to senior leadership and coordinating follow-up actions.
  • Develop and execute legislative assessment strategies, forecasting regulatory trends and managing gap analyses to ensure business readiness.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on regulatory issues, conducting research and impact assessments to guide corporate positions.
  • Drive business plans by identifying needs, removing obstacles, and measuring performance to support continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop associates, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
