As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience
  • Consumer/user facing application development experience.
  • Experience in commercial software development on Unix/Linux environment.
  • Experience in developing and deploying containers.
  • Understand the Security requirements and standards like JWT, OAuth, SAML and contemporary trends in Security risks as well as technologies.
  • Experience in security domain with authentication, authorization and building secure gateway.
  • Experience developing & deploying services in a multi-cloud environment like GCP, Azure & AWS.
  • Experience in Java/J2EE technologies, Kubernetes, Swarm and database technologies
  • Understanding of architecture and operations of highly available and scalable transactional systems.
  • Experience in cloud migration and multi cloud strategy.
  • Experience with agile development process
  • Superior verbal, written & interpersonal communication skills with both technical & non-technical audiences
  • Excellent team player, with strong collaboration skills and ability to influence cross-functional team for results
  • A growth mindset that is curious and passionate about technologies and enjoys challenging projects on a global scale
  • Comfort in pushing the boundaries, ‘hacking’ beyond traditional solutions
  • Expertise in one or more general development languages (e.g., Java, C#, C++)
  • Experience building and deploying modern services and web applications with quality and scalability
  • Constant drive to learn new technologies such as Angular, React, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
  • Experience collaborating with Product, Test, Dev-ops, and Agile/Scrum teams

Nice To Haves

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams, providing technical direction, coaching, performance guidance, and career development support to software engineers and technical leads.
  • Design, code, review, and oversee scalable, secure, and resilient systems that support global products and platforms, while advancing Visa’s standards for reliability, maintainability, performance, security, and reusability.
  • Partner with product owners, architects, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to gather and refine requirements, align priorities, resolve dependencies, and deliver solutions that support customer needs and business objectives.
  • Drive end-to-end delivery of new capabilities and business flows across agile squads, contributing to solution design, development, testing, release planning, adoption, and operational support.
  • Develop robust and scalable products for a wide range of customers, including merchants, consumers, financial institutions, B2B clients, and business-to-government solutions.
  • Leverage innovative technologies to build next-generation payment capabilities, including Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, Buy Now Pay Later solutions, data-driven services, and AI-enabled tools.
  • Champion product quality and service excellence by improving reliability, observability, resiliency, automation, performance, security, customer experience, and operational readiness.
  • Create and scale engineering best practices, frameworks, documentation, and reusable assets that improve development quality, delivery predictability, platform adoption, user enablement, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide domain expertise and technical thought leadership across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams by documenting solutions, training colleagues, sharing best practices, and supporting payment optimization initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to automate insights and improve decision-making through data, analytics dashboards, AI-enabled tools, system metrics, and reusable engineering assets.
  • Manage execution across agile teams, ensuring alignment on scope, timelines, dependencies, risks, quality standards, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leaders, product teams, customer-facing teams, and client stakeholders.
  • Make an impact at global and local scale through mentorship, continuous learning, inclusive leadership, collaboration, and contributions to Visa’s engineering culture.
