About The Position

The Senior Manager of Software Asset Management & IT Software Storefront is responsible for the day to day leadership and operation of the organization’s software lifecycle and enterprise software storefront. This role ensures compliant, cost effective, and customer friendly access to software by overseeing software intake, licensing, fulfillment, optimization, and retirement. The Senior Manager partners closely with Security, Endpoint Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and Application Owners to operationalize software governance, reduce risk and cost, and improve the end user experience through a streamlined software storefront. (Note: this role is available for remote work from most US locations).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Significant experience in Software Asset Management, IT operations, or software lifecycle management.
  • Experience managing people and/or MSPs.
  • Working knowledge of software licensing models and vendor compliance requirements.
  • Experience with SAM and ITSM tooling (e.g., Flexera, ServiceNow, Intune).
  • 7 years of relevant work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting healthcare regulatory compliance, including working knowledge of HIPAA, ePHI protections, and healthcare IT control environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and enforce asset‑related CMDB data standards, such as required attributes, ownership models, lifecycle states, and data quality expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead operational execution of the Software Asset Management program, including licensing compliance, entitlement management, and lifecycle governance in accordance with ISO 19770.
  • Manage software inventory accuracy, implement and maintain an Effective License Position (ELP), and usage analysis using enterprise SAM tools (e.g., Flexera).
  • Support software renewals, true‑ups, audits, and compliance activities in partnership with Procurement, Finance, and Security.
  • Track and report software compliance risks, remediation efforts, and cost‑optimization opportunities.
  • Partner with Configuration Management / ITSM teams to ensure the CMDB accurately reflects asset lifecycle events, without owning day‑to‑day CMDB administration.
  • Drive reduction of obsolete, unused, or unsupported software through defined lifecycle standards.
  • Maintain documentation and evidence to support audit readiness and internal controls.
  • Own the operational management of the enterprise software storefront (IT Store / App Portal).
  • Define and maintain storefront offerings, approval models, and fulfillment workflows.
  • Ensure storefront offerings align with: Approved software standards and lifecycle status, Security and risk requirements, Endpoint deployment capabilities.
  • Partner with Endpoint / EUC teams to ensure software offered in the store is deployable, supportable, and automated where possible.
  • Continuously improve storefront efficiency by increasing auto‑approval, reducing fulfillment time, and improving transparency for customers.
  • Use store analytics and feedback to identify gaps, opportunities, and improvement actions.
  • Manage and develop staff responsible for SAM operations, storefront administration, reporting, and analytics.
  • Assign work, prioritize initiatives, and monitor performance against defined goals and service expectations.
  • Ensure team alignment with departmental objectives, policies, and operational standards.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and skill development for assigned staff.
  • Work closely with: Security on software risk posture, policy enforcement, and vulnerable software remediation; Endpoint / Workplace Services on packaging, deployment, and tooling readiness; Procurement & Finance on purchasing, renewals, cost centers, and chargeback/showback data; Application Owners to validate business need and ownership.
  • Serve as the primary operational point of contact for software lifecycle and storefront questions.
  • Develop and maintain metrics related to: License compliance and audit readiness, Software spend optimization and avoidance, Storefront fulfillment time and adoption, Obsolete software reduction.
  • Provide regular status updates to management and business partners.
  • Identify and implement improvements based on industry best practices and internal performance data.
