Senior Manager, Product Design

UiPath•Austin, TX
•$172,000 - $225,000

About The Position

The Senior Manager, Product Design leads a team of senior and principal-level product designers responsible for experiences across UiPath’s Vertical Solutions portfolio, spanning healthcare and life sciences, financial services, and the office of the CFO. The role sets portfolio-wide design strategy, connects experiences across products and industries, and builds systems, strategies, and teams that make exceptional design scalable. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role, not primarily one of assigning work or managing deliverables. The Senior Manager helps designers think beyond individual products, creates cohesive experiences across recurring business workflows, and develops shared patterns and design systems that accelerate delivery while maintaining quality. The role also leads the team’s AI-forward design practice, establishing workflows, standards, and quality expectations for using tools such as Claude Code and Codex to prototype, build, and ship production software. The Senior Manager works closely with product, engineering, customers, and senior business leaders, while remaining connected to design craft and complex product challenges.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading product design teams, including at least two years managing a team of five or more designers, ideally including senior or principal-level individual contributors.
  • Strong product design background, with experience shaping modern enterprise SaaS applications, business-user-facing products, or consumer digital experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish design strategy across multiple products, teams, or business domains.
  • Deep systems-thinking capability, including direct experience developing, scaling, or meaningfully evolving design systems and reusable experience patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with an AI-forward design process, using tools such as Claude Code and Codex to prototype, build, and ship, with examples of work produced this way.
  • Builder mindset and understanding of how modern frontend applications come together; experience shipping production code alongside engineering partners or leading designers who do.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and a track record of influencing product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders in a larger organization.
  • Strong customer empathy and experience applying research, customer engagement, and real-world workflows to design decisions.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and build alignment around a compelling design vision.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity, navigating competing priorities, and making thoughtful decisions in a rapidly evolving technology environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing AI-powered, agentic, or automation-driven products, particularly those involving human oversight, trust, or complex business workflows.
  • Experience spanning multiple industries, such as healthcare, financial services, enterprise software, or consumer technology.
  • Familiarity with GitHub and modern frontend development workflows.
  • Experience leading distributed teams or collaborating across North American and European time zones.
  • Experience evolving traditional design organizations toward AI-native, code-first ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate a cohesive, forward-looking design strategy and experience vision across multiple products, industries, and business workflows.
  • Connect near-term execution to longer-term product and design priorities.
  • Manage and develop the design team by providing strategic direction, thoughtful feedback, and autonomy.
  • Identify user needs and interaction patterns shared across healthcare, financial services, and finance operations, and turn them into reusable components and patterns.
  • Establish how the team designs and builds with AI tools, making working code and production delivery the default approach.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to influence priorities, navigate tradeoffs, and ensure design considerations shape product decisions from the beginning.
  • Champion user research and direct customer engagement, and ensure product decisions reflect real user needs and workflows.
  • Communicate design strategy and build alignment with senior product, engineering, and business leaders.
  • Stay hands-on by building and shipping when appropriate, critiquing work, and engaging with complex design challenges.
