Senior Manager, Product Design

UiPath•Austin, TX

About The Position

The Senior Manager, Product Design will lead a team of senior and principal-level product designers responsible for user experiences across UiPath’s Vertical Solutions portfolio, serving healthcare and life sciences, financial services, and the office of the CFO. The role sets design strategy across products and industries, creates cohesive experiences, and develops shared patterns and design systems that help the organization deliver high-quality work at greater scale and speed. This leader will guide how AI transforms the design discipline, establishing workflows, standards, and quality expectations for AI-forward design and delivery. The team prototypes, builds, and ships directly to production alongside product and engineering partners rather than relying on static design handoffs. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on contribution, customer engagement, cross-functional influence, and team development.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience managing a team of five or more designers, ideally including senior or principal-level individual contributors.
  • Strong product design background, with experience shaping modern enterprise SaaS applications, business-user-facing products, or consumer digital experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish design strategy across multiple products, teams, or business domains.
  • Deep systems thinking, including direct experience developing, scaling, or meaningfully evolving design systems and reusable experience patterns.
  • Hands-on experience using an AI-forward design process and tools such as Claude Code and Codex to prototype, build, and ship, with examples of work produced this way.
  • Builder mindset and understanding of modern frontend applications; experience shipping production code with engineering partners or leading designers who have done so.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and a track record of influencing product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders within a larger organization.
  • Strong customer empathy and experience using research, customer engagement, and real-world workflows to inform design decisions.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and build alignment around a compelling design vision.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, navigating competing priorities, and making thoughtful decisions in a rapidly evolving technology environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing AI-powered, agentic, or automation-driven products, particularly those involving human oversight, trust, or complex business workflows.
  • Experience spanning multiple industries, such as healthcare, financial services, enterprise software, or consumer technology.
  • Familiarity with GitHub and modern frontend development workflows.
  • Experience leading distributed teams or collaborating across North American and European time zones.
  • Experience evolving traditional design organizations toward AI-native, code-first ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate a cohesive, forward-looking design strategy across products, industries, and business workflows, connecting near-term execution with longer-term priorities.
  • Manage and develop a team of senior and principal-level product designers through strategic direction, thoughtful feedback, and autonomy.
  • Identify shared user needs and interaction patterns across industries and turn solutions into reusable components and patterns.
  • Set how the team designs and builds with AI tools, making working code and production delivery the default design approach.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to influence priorities, navigate tradeoffs, and shape product decisions from the beginning.
  • Champion user research and direct customer engagement to ensure product decisions reflect real user needs and workflows.
  • Communicate design strategy and build alignment with senior product, engineering, and business leaders.
  • Stay hands-on by building and shipping when needed, critiquing work, and helping the team address complex design challenges.
