About the position
The Senior Manager of Portfolio Strategy and Operations will play a key role in building and shaping a first-class R&D Strategy and Operations group at Relay Tx. They will work closely with leaders across the organization to support strategic initiatives and ensure flawless operation of activities across Research & Development. The role involves updating and refining key processes and governance structures, steering Leadership Team agendas and major R&D meetings, and managing and maintaining R&D corporate goals. The Senior Manager will also synthesize data, trends, and industry best practices to create solutions for managing the R&D Portfolio, while facilitating cross-functional discussions to drive towards shared goals and program progression.
Responsibilities
- Update and refine key processes and governance structures within R&D as the team grows and scales
- Steer Leadership Team agendas and major R&D meetings, including leadership off-sites and critical cross-functional forums
- Bring structure to complex and ambiguous problems, synthesize findings, develop creative and innovative options, and make logically supported recommendations
- Build narratives, craft visuals, refine messaging, and tell compelling stories to communicate progress back to the Executive Leadership Team and Board
- Manage and maintain R&D corporate goals
- Manage and maintain the R&D section of the long-range strategic plan in collaboration with R&D Operations colleagues
- Synthesize data, trends, and industry best practices to create solutions for managing the R&D Portfolio
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions to drive towards shared goals and program progression
- Have experience in management consulting, operations, program management, and executive communication
- Have a science or management consulting background
- Be an open and candid communicator
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in management consulting, operations, program management, and executive communication
- Background in science or management consulting
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to bring structure to complex and ambiguous problems
- Ability to synthesize data, trends, and industry best practices
- Experience in updating and refining key processes and governance structures
- Ability to manage and maintain R&D corporate goals
- Experience in crafting narratives, visuals, and messaging
- Ability to facilitate cross-functional discussions and drive towards shared goals
