About the position
The Senior Manager of Portfolio Strategy and Operations will play a crucial role in supporting strategic initiatives and building a first-class R&D Strategy and Operations group at Relay Tx. They will ensure flawless operation of activities across Research & Development, define the shape of the portfolio, and enable collaboration and alignment across teams. The role requires flexibility, fearlessness in the face of ambiguity, and the ability to bring structure to complex problems. Strong communication skills, data synthesis abilities, and experience in management consulting and executive communication are also essential. The Senior Manager will operate in a matrixed role, facilitating cross-functional discussions and driving towards shared goals and program progression.
Responsibilities
- Support strategic initiatives and collaborate with leaders across the organization
- Build and shape a first-class R&D Strategy and Operations group
- Ensure flawless operation of activities across Research & Development
- Define the shape of the portfolio and collaborate with R&D Ops and leaders
- Enable collaboration and alignment across teams
- Update and refine key processes and governance structures within R&D
- Steer Leadership Team agendas and major R&D meetings
- Bring structure to complex and ambiguous problems, synthesize findings, and develop innovative options
- Build narratives, craft visuals, refine messaging, and tell compelling stories to communicate progress to the Executive Leadership Team and Board
- Manage and maintain R&D corporate goals
- Manage and maintain the R&D section of the long-range strategic plan
- Synthesize data, trends, and industry best practices to manage the R&D Portfolio
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions to drive towards shared goals and program progression
- Have experience in management consulting, operations, program management, and executive communication
- Have a science or management consulting background
- Be an open and candid communicator
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in management consulting, operations, program management, and executive communication
- Background in science or management consulting
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to bring structure to complex and ambiguous problems
- Synthesize findings and develop creative options
