Thermo Fisher Scientific recently announced that it has entered into an agreement to sell its microbiology business to Astorg, a leading pan-European private equity firm with deep expertise in healthcare, focused on a select set of subsectors, including pharmaceutical services and technology, medtech and related services, life science tools and diagnostics. This decision follows a thoughtful evaluation as part of Thermo Fisher’s ongoing business strategy to actively manage and strengthen our portfolio. We expect the transaction will be completed in the second half of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and applicable regulatory approvals. Until the transaction is complete, Thermo Fisher will continue to operate the business. For more information, please review: Thermo Fisher’s press release Astorg press release Discover Impactful Work: The Sr. Manager, North America Supply Chain is an outstanding leadership role pivotal in driving our supply chain operations across North America. This position coordinates a broad spectrum of supply chain management, including demand planning, sourcing, purchasing, materials planning, order management, and distribution. You will ensure the seamless flow of goods and materials to support the Microbiology division's substantial revenue streams. A day in the Life: North America Supply Chain Leadership: Directs and manages all supply chain functions within North America, ensuring outstanding performance and efficiency. Demand Planning: Develops and implements accurate demand forecasts to optimize inventory levels and meet customer demand. Sourcing & Purchasing: Leads strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiates contracts with suppliers, and manages supplier relationships to ensure efficient procurement of materials and services. Materials Planning: Coordinates inventory control, production planning, and material flow to ensure timely availability of materials for production and fulfilment. Distribution: Coordinates warehouse operations, logistics, and transportation to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of products to customers. Financial Performance: Manages the supply chain budget, monitors critical metrics, and finds opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Finance, and other key collaborators to align supply chain strategies with business objectives. Team Leadership & Development: Leads, mentors, and develops a high-performing supply chain team. Compliance: Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards. Drives Microbiology Division Growth: Ensures a reliable supply chain, supporting $300M in North American revenue and $700M globally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of dynamic experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing end-to-end supply chain operations in a complex, global organization.
  • Deep understanding of demand planning, sourcing, purchasing, materials planning, order management, and distribution processes.
  • Extensive experience with S&OP and demonstrated ability to drive process improvement.
  • Experience with Continuous Availability Systems (CAS) or similar inventory management systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience in the life sciences or related industry is preferred.
  • APICS certification (e.g., CSCP, CPIM) is a plus.
