About The Position

HUNTER is looking for a Senior Manager of Earned Media to join our centralized Media Team in the New York office. This role is for a media junkie and newsroom expert who is "in the trenches" and thinking three steps ahead. You know how to navigate the complex media landscape, how to land the big hits that move the needle, and how to keep high-stakes projects on track. At HUNTER, we don’t just "do" media, we earn it.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of PR agency or media relations experience where you’ve truly "earned your stripes" in outreach and strategy.
  • A proven track record of securing national, top-tier earned media coverage across a variety of consumer and lifestyle verticals.
  • A degree in PR, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with industry tools like Muckrack, Meltwater, and Critical Mention.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google suites.
  • Resourceful, organized problem-solver with a "can-do" spirit.
  • Always looking for opportunities to improve the agency’s media processes and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong pulse on the entertainment, lifestyle, sports, and consumer media landscapes to identify timely opportunities for pitching and storytelling.
  • Leverage existing network of key editors and journalists across core verticals while continuously building new media relationships.
  • Own the media relations process from strategy through execution, driving the development of both proactive and reactive outreach plans.
  • Conduct media audits and research on brands, talent, and trends to develop thoughtful and strategic POVs.
  • Oversee the creation and refinement of all media materials, including media lists, pitches, key messaging, and briefing books.
  • Play an integral role in talent-driven campaigns, leading talent interview bookings and executing media relations logistics.
  • Support media events by securing relevant attendance and providing on-site staffing.
  • Serve as the lead media point of contact in key meetings with account teams, providing strategic counsel and media expertise.
  • Proactively participate in agency brainstorm sessions for both client programs and new business to bring a media-first lens to every creative idea.
  • Manage multiple projects across multiple accounts, keeping up with emails and updates with a high level of organization.
  • Manage core departmental resources, such as editorial calendars, award trackers, and curated media lists.
  • Collaborate effectively with teammates to draft and edit work prior to delivery, bringing new ideas to the table.
  • Maintain to-do lists, meet deadlines, and actively communicate progress and deliverables with supervisors.
  • Stay ahead of the curve on emerging media platforms and formats—such as newsletters, podcasts, and digital news creators—and integrate them into earned media strategies.
  • Juggle multiple high-stakes projects and tight deadlines without breaking a sweat.
  • Learn quickly and adapt to an ever-changing landscape.
  • Travel to client locations, headquarters, or staff events when asked, representing HUNTER's media expertise on the ground.
