About The Position

Thermal limits are the hidden bottleneck holding back the world’s most advanced technologies—AI infrastructure, semiconductor equipment, power electronics, and mission-critical defense systems. At Johnson Controls, we don’t work around those limits—we eliminate them. Powered by our breakthrough Stack Forging™ process, we engineer high-performance thermal components and integrated cooling loop solutions designed for direct deployment into AI, HPC, and other demanding environments. The result: a best-in-class thermal management platform built for the systems that push performance to the edge—and beyond. As the Senior Manager of the Stack Forging Thermal Solutions Machines Team at Johnson Controls, you won’t just lead a team—you’ll drive the engineering backbone behind a breakthrough manufacturing platform. Acting as a true player-coach, you’ll guide a highly skilled, multidisciplinary group of mechanical, controls, and test engineers, along with technicians, delivering the advanced machinery that powers our Stack Forging™ process. Reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, you’ll operate at both altitude and depth—owning the strategic roadmap while staying closely connected to the technical details. From laser cutting and diffusion bonding to coil handling and beyond, your team designs and evolves the specialized production systems that bring our most critical innovations to life. Your leadership will directly influence how we scale performance, reliability, and capability across next-generation manufacturing. If you have a broad engineering foundation across mechanical, systems, and controls disciplines, you confidently lead cross-functional efforts and navigate ambiguity with speed and clarity, this could be your next opportunity! We are seeking candidates who are energized by solving novel challenges from first principles and equally motivated to roll up your sleeves when it matters most, as well as highly organized and execution-focused, you bring structure to complexity—driving large-scale projects forward while instilling a culture of rigor, accountability, and engineering excellence. As a mentor, you elevate those around you, building a team that is not only capable, but deeply committed to pushing boundaries and delivering exceptional results. Candidates must be commuting distance to the Burlington, MA, facility, or able to relocate. Only US citizens and/or Permanent Residents of the US will be considered, as sponsorship is not available for this position
