About The Position

The Senior Manager, Labour Relations ensures compliance with legal requirements and company directives regarding labour relations, while contributing to a safe, respectful, and productive work environment that fosters engagement and support, free from external disruption. The role requires a proactive approach to identify, assess, and mitigate third-party risks, whether from internal or external factors. Other related responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the company's response to third-party organizing activities at local, market, and divisional levels (branches, distribution centers, and other sites), including coordinating daily interventions and training associates at targeted sites. This role requires great flexibility and the ability to travel with short notice.
  • Lead interventions by first responders and labour relations team members deployed to different sites; ensure preparedness and response capability for labour relations issues in multiple markets, including those involving third-party activities; train first responders for initial interventions (first 48 hours); advise HR partners and operations on legally compliant practices; support site management and ensure the maintenance of positive HR and operations leadership after interventions.
  • Manage the assessment of labour relations risks and issues in the assigned division or area; analyze activity trends and support the interpretation of opinion survey results; monitor and communicate the impact of change initiatives on associate morale; recommend and implement best employment practices and communication strategies; guide and coordinate HR leaders and operations in implementing engagement strategies, supporting local HR teams.
  • Assess overall site morale; provide trend analyses to local HR teams; and collaborate with teams and leaders in defining and implementing divisional and national labour relations strategies.
  • Ensure and monitor compliance with labour relations training for managers and supervisors (metropolitan markets, new site formats, and other locations); coordinate training for new and newly promoted managers; evaluate campaign effectiveness; support training delivery; and lead interventions related to unfair labour practice complaints.
  • Promote and support company directives, procedures, mission, values, and ethical and integrity standards; train and guide employees on their application; ensure compliance; and promote and support the open-door policy.
  • Ensure business needs are met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of plans, programs, and initiatives; consult with business partners, managers, colleagues, and other stakeholders; gather, evaluate, and implement ideas to improve efficiency and profitability; and participate in community initiatives.
