About The Position

Engine is transforming business travel into something personalized, rewarding, and simple by building a platform that integrates corporate travel, a powerful charge card, and modern spend management. They are looking for exceptional, mission-driven people to help redefine how businesses manage and experience travel. Engine is cash flow positive with rapid growth, backed by Telescope Partners, Blackstone, and Permira, and has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing travel and fintech platforms in North America. The company is hiring a Senior Manager of Information Technology to lead their IT organization and build a modern, automation-first IT function. This is a hands-on "player-coach" role where the individual will set strategy, improve execution, and address technical debt. The role involves owning the modern IT stack end-to-end, including identity (Okta), device lifecycle, onboarding/offboarding automation, and SLA performance, while collaborating with Security, People, and Engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience in fast-moving, remote-first environments, including leading fix-and-modernize phases.
  • Deep experience with Okta (required), modern MDM (Intune, Jamf, Kandji, or similar), Google Workspace, and the Atlassian suite.
  • Proven ability to scope, sequence, and land complex cross-functional programs (domain consolidations, IAM rollouts, tooling migrations) on time.
  • Automation-first mindset with experience using Okta (or equivalent IDP) for provisioning.
  • Deep experience across Tier 1/2 support, device lifecycle management, identity, and endpoint security.
  • Fluency in the intersection of productivity and protection, with experience partnering with security teams on audits, access reviews, endpoint health, and incident response.
  • High standards and good judgment, ensuring high standards are met without slowing down the business.

Nice To Haves

  • AI-curiosity, exploring how AI can augment IT operations (intelligent alerting, automated resolution, smarter employee experiences).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the IT organization, managing a distributed team of engineers and support analysts with on-site coverage in Tempe and Chicago.
  • Coach the team, define performance standards, and build the operating cadence to raise talent density.
  • Define what a modern IT function looks like at Engine, including device lifecycle, endpoint security, internal tooling, and integrations.
  • Retire outdated systems and consolidate where appropriate.
  • Architect Okta as Engine's single source of truth for identity, access, and automation, focusing on onboarding, offboarding, provisioning, and access reviews.
  • Define, measure, and hit SLAs across Tier 1/2 support, device lifecycle, and access management.
  • Partner with Security on Okta, SSO, MFA, and access reviews to ensure scale does not compromise security.
  • Set the IT strategy, making decisions about where to invest engineering time and prioritizing initiatives with the biggest business impact.
