Senior Manager, DashMart Fulfillment Services - Strategy & Operations

DoorDash USA•Washington, DC
•$170,000 - $250,000•Remote

About The Position

Our ambition for DashMart Fulfillment Services (DFS) is to power the best grocery experience, letting customers shop their full list 24/7 from their favorite merchant, with error-free same-day delivery at in-store prices. Carrying the right items across an extensive merchant selection is foundational to our infrastructure and consumer offering. This team owns both of those inputs end to end ensuring that we choose the right items, they arrive in the right quantities and on time and are fully in sync with our warehouse operations to make them available to consumers. We're looking to bring on a few Senior Managers with strong operational and analytical backgrounds that can tackle our most critical and ambiguous problems and build durable solutions at scale that will empower the long-term success of DFS. These roles require a holistic understanding of how we think through merchant selection & partnerships to how we build our fulfillment model. These aren’t insights roles - you will be expected to own root cause diagnostics, how to test operationally, and how to scale initiatives through productized solutions in partnership with product, engineering and local operations. One role will focus on merchant selection and one roles will focus on inventory health - both are critical to the end to end success of a DFS partnership.

Requirements

  • Roughly 8-12+ years in data science, analytics, strategy and operations, consulting, retail or supply chain, including time managing people and leading large cross-functional workstreams.
  • You've built teams and grown analysts from individuals who can diagnose a problem into solution owners.
  • You're strong in SQL and comfortable using the latest AI tools for analysis (Claude, Cursor), you can build models and design experiments, and you can go to the lowest level of detail yourself when it matters
  • You've taken ambiguous operational problems from diagnosis to a scaled, productized solution in partnership with product & engineering.
  • You can navigate comfortably between strategy and detail, and between product, engineering and site operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Grocery, convenience, or e-commerce fulfillment background including supply chain, inventory and category management
  • Hands-on experience with forecasting or ML systems
  • Experimentation experience

Responsibilities

  • Merchant Selection. Identify where to play and how to win from knowing what merchants our customers want, to where we should launch those as a test and determine what success looks like to scale.
  • In-Stock. Own availability across forecasting, replenishment, receiving and labor planning. Find the binding constraint and decide what service level is worth paying for, by category.
  • Catalog. The catalog is the promise we make before the order. Every error shows up later as a missing item, a wrong order or lost margin.
  • Shrink. Shrink is the cost of the in-stock promise. Separate what ops can fix this month from what needs a systemic fix, and set the availability-versus-waste tradeoff deliberately.
  • Take problems with no clear owner or structure, break them down to the root causes, and size the opportunities so we know what to go after first and what to sequence later
  • Turn the diagnosis into a plan that has DRIs, initiatives, dates, and goals against each root cause, and drive it to completion
  • Run the short-term and the long-term in parallel, scrappy fixes this month while designing what scales
  • Partner with Product and Engineering on the problem statement, requirements, and prioritization, and stay accountable through launch and adoption
  • Build the metrics, dashboards, and root cause analysis views so anyone outside the team can see how a KR is progressing and why, and keep a weekly pulse so trend breaks get caught early
  • Work XFN with Supply Chain, Ops, Category Management, Vendor Management, Analytics, Product & Engineering and Finance to get everyone laddering up to the same goals, and be the escalation point when they don't line up
  • Hire, develop, and manage 3-5 direct reports, set a high analytical bar, and make sure each of them knows what good looks like at their level
