The Senior Manager of National Consumer Promotions will be responsible for defining, managing the execution of, and optimizing promotional strategies for all brands within Bayer Consumer Health, US. This role is an integral part of the Integrated Marketing Team, playing a crucial role in influencing marketing investment decisions to expand our shopper base and increase market share among key retailers. The position demands a candidate with a combination of strategic judgment, analytical rigor, and operational discipline, along with proven experience in managing large-scale, complex promotions. Experience in complex categories, particularly Over-the-Counter (OTC) products, is considered essential for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field required
  • Ongoing learning through memberships and activities with industry organizations to stay updated on market trends and best practices (e.g., ACP, CIC, CHPA, NACDS)
  • Expertise in coupon creation, fraud protection measures, and the vendor landscape in the Consumer Promotions industry
  • Significant experience with in-store and online retailers and understanding how Consumer Promotions impact retail trade and shopping behaviors
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers and senior leadership
  • Comfort with self-ownership and holding others accountable
  • Proven success in both budget and time management

Nice To Haves

  • M.B.A. preferred
  • 6-10 years of progressive experience in Consumer Promotions strategy and execution in a complex industry (preferably packaged goods)
  • Experience in other areas of omni-channel marketing such as Shopper Marketing, E-commerce, or programs leveraging social media, influencers, and public relations

Responsibilities

  • Annual Planning: Own the collaboration and outputs for National, Healthcare Professional (HCP), and Retail Consumer Promotions
  • Budget Management: Oversee the distribution and redemption of promotional budgets for individual brands, portfolio programs, and consideration of trade activities
  • Resource Allocation: Take a macro view of promotional investments to ensure effective resource allocation aligns with strategic objectives and maximizes return on investment
  • Strategic Progression: Continuously evolve promotional strategies based on proven data and market insights to provide the best solutions for our business
  • Innovation Integration: Foster a culture of "outside-in" thinking by testing and integrating innovative strategies and technologies (e.g., AI, last-mile activations, UMO, 8112 etc.) to enhance promotional efforts and drive customer engagement
  • Standards: Enforce and evolve BIC standards for promotional strategy execution
  • Market Dynamics: Deliver design frameworks that consider customer segments, seasonality, geography, and consumer packaged goods (CPG) market dynamics
  • Holistic Strategy: Maintain and optimize a cohesive promotional strategy based on a vast understanding of analytics, promotional behavior, targeting, costs, and market dynamics
  • Internal Communications: Clearly communicate strategy, changes, and barriers to key stakeholders, along with solutions to effectively integrate Consumer Promotions as a successful tool for our enterprise
  • Vendor Management: Partner with Procurement to lead the contract negotiation process with consumer promotion suppliers, ensuring favorable terms that align with organizational goals. Maintain Promotional Vendor Agency scope and direction.
