About The Position

This role is responsible for commercial finance matters for a Product Line, partnering with financial and operational stakeholders, including Commercial VPs and Growth teams. The Senior Manager will use strong business acumen to support the Product Line in developing and executing its sales long-range plan, sales budget, and sales rolling forecast. This includes developing revenue plans, modeling business proposals, providing decision support, and analyzing commercial deals and projects. The role also supports sales quoting to drive profitable growth and pricing strategy, interfaces with Applications Engineering on financial models, and participates in customer business reviews. The Senior Manager will develop commercial finance analytics, provide financial insights in team meetings, and understand critical commercial issues, simplifying complex data for leadership. They will track rebates and pricing impacts, triangulate forecasts from manufacturing sites to communicate sales trends, and provide revenue analytics for reporting. Ad hoc analytics to drive optimal commercial decisions are also a key part of the role. The Senior Manager will implement and adhere to Enterprise commercial finance standards and policies, leveraging modern tools and collaborating on continuous improvement projects to reduce non-value-added processes.

Requirements

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Economics.
  • 8-10 years of related experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of management experience preferred.
  • Experience within a manufacturing company with multi-facility responsibility is a must.
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting.
  • Excellent data analysis skills, leveraging modern tools and concepts (Power BI/DAX, data models (dimensions/facts), advanced MS Excel – tables, power query/M, power pivot, advanced formulas), to facilitate development of commercial finance models.
  • Working effectively with large sales datasets (retrieve, transform, report).
  • Proficient knowledge and skill in ERP applications; Knowledge of Hyperion.
  • Analytical thinking, modeling and forecast experience.
  • Detailed analysis experience including comparisons to budget, forecast and prior year.
  • Effective communication (clear and candid) and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of quoting, pricing, and contract management processes.
  • Ability to recognize trends and patterns in the business.
  • Make recommendations for solutions, able to turn analytics into insights.
  • Able to work effectively across functional and reporting lines in accomplishing responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or advanced degree a plus, but not required.
  • Experience within a lean manufacturing environment utilizing Lean Accounting a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of Product Line commercial finance matters, partnering with financial and operational stakeholders, including Commercial VPs and Growth teams.
  • Serves as a Product Line business partner providing support in developing and execution of Product Line sales long-range plan, sales budget, and sales rolling forecast.
  • Partners with Commercial and Growth teams, including Product Line Commercial VP, to develop both high level and detailed Product Line revenue plan with a firm understanding of product life cycle information by product line, market, market segment and customer program.
  • Drives modeling of Product Line business proposals and provides business and commercial finance decision support.
  • Collaborates with a broad range of internal stakeholders to ensure the financial models are comprehensive and accurate.
  • Monitors the development and presentation of business case analysis for individual commercial deals and projects, to be used by decision makers, including Commercial VPs and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Supports Product Line sales quoting to drive execution of profitable growth and pricing strategy, based on the value proposition through an understanding of the markets, products, customers, and competition.
  • Interface with Product Line Applications Engineering to prepare, vet, and analyze financial models (quotes).
  • Participates in Product Line business reviews with critical customers as part of the leadership team, as needed.
  • Supports Enterprise Commercial/Growth team in financial assessment of complex commercial opportunities and contracts.
  • Effectively communicates, being clear, concise, candid, and active, at the detailed and executive level (Product line, Category, ELT leadership).
  • Develops commercial finance analytics.
  • Provides financial insight through participation in Product Line/Category Commercial and Growth teams meetings.
  • Engages in evaluation and tracking of rebates and pricing impacts to ensure they are captured in Product Line Rolling Forecast and Budget and clearly understood by Senior Leadership.
  • Triangulates forecasts and inputs from manufacturing sites to communicate sales trends and open orders/backlog.
  • Seeks to understand customer and market trends relative to Product Line sales changes.
  • Provides revenue analytics to Product Line Commercial and Growth teams as well as other internal stakeholders, to be used for month-end, quarter-end & year-end reporting and reviews.
  • Performs proactive ad hoc analytics to drive optimal commercial decisions.
  • Implements & adheres to Enterprise commercial finance standards/policies, leveraging modern tools.
  • Collaborates with Enterprise Commercial team to implement continuous improvement projects and enterprise standards in commercial finance processes (budget, rolling forecast, analytics, reporting) leveraging modern analytics tools and systems (Oracle ERP, CRM, Power BI, advanced Excel, Robotic Process Automation).
  • Works with Enterprise Commercial function towards reducing non-value-added processes.
