About The Position

The Mainframe Senior Engineer is part of a managed services engineering team responsible for maintaining customer environments and resolving technical problems efficiently. The role maintains existing mainframe systems, plans and performs customer system migrations using tape save/restore or software replication, expands customer environments, ensures proper system backup handling, and responds in a break/fix capacity to technical issues affecting system operability and functionality. The position requires mainframe administration, operations, and support experience, particularly with z Series systems, virtual tape environments, fiber-switched environments, and networking related to mainframe connectivity. The engineer works with customers and multidisciplinary teams on migrations and remote management setups, installs and maintains operating system, major subsystem, and ISV software, supports hardware configuration and upgrades, and implements technologies aligned with the team roadmap. The role also includes maintaining golden/sandbox systems, documenting systems, participating in infrastructure projects as the mainframe subject matter expert, and providing occasional after-hours and weekend support. The position is anticipated to be remote, with the ability to work from states listed in the job posting. Occasional travel may be required for in-person meetings, and the work location may change based on business needs.
