About The Position

U.S. Bank is seeking a z/OS Systems Programmer with extensive mainframe technology experience, especially installing and upgrading, tuning, and troubleshooting z/OS and third-party software. The role contributes to mainframe technology initiatives in a team environment supporting multiple systems in a highly redundant and robust mainframe environment. The Systems Engineer participates in project teams implementing new capabilities and technologies, recommends products and solutions to modernize and streamline the environment, and leads projects and efforts across multiple teams. The position covers IBM z/OS installation, configuration, maintenance, lifecycle management, and software deployment across multiple Sysplex environments and data centers. It also supports mainframe subsystems, hardware, storage, coupling facilities, and disaster recovery. The role collaborates with teams across technology disciplines and maintains technical documentation and operational standards. It requires providing 24x7 production support and on-call coverage as part of a rotating support model. This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three or more days per week. The listed pay range is $105,400 to $124,000; the actual range may vary by role location.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
At least 5 years of experience within a total information technology (IT) environment.
At least 10 years of experience with the design, development, and support of technology infrastructure.

Nice To Haves

Extensive experience administering and supporting IBM z/OS in large-scale Parallel Sysplex environments.
Strong expertise in z/OS installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and SMP/E software deployment.
Hands-on experience supporting CICS, IMS, JES2, IBM MQ, and Db2 for z/OS.

Responsibilities

Lead installation, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of IBM z/OS operating systems across multiple Sysplex environments and data centers.
Develop, standardize, and execute z/OS upgrade, migration, and maintenance methodologies using SMP/E for software installation and updates.
Troubleshoot complex z/OS system, performance, and infrastructure issues; provide root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
Administer and support JES2, CICS, IMS, MQ, and Db2 mainframe subsystems.
Collaborate with storage, security, networking, application development, and capacity planning teams to support system performance and availability.
Configure and maintain IBM and third-party software, including products from Broadcom (CA), BMC, and Compuware.
Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and recovery exercises.
Manage and support mainframe hardware, coupling facilities, storage configurations, and GDPS environments.
Maintain system documentation, configuration standards, operational procedures, and technical diagrams.
Provide 24x7 production support and on-call coverage as part of a rotating support model.
Participate in project teams implementing new capabilities and technologies; suggest products and solutions to modernize and streamline the environment.
Lead projects and efforts across multiple teams.
