About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer is an individual-contributor technical lead responsible for the design, development, modernization, and production support of business-critical IBM z/OS applications. The role combines deep COBOL batch and online expertise with Git-based engineering, test automation, and CI/CD practices. It owns technical direction, design quality, code review, modernization, delivery quality, operational readiness, and production stability for assigned applications, platforms, or domains, without direct people management. The position leads technical design and engineering delivery, partnering with business and technology stakeholders to align work with priorities, requirements, risk controls, and enterprise standards. It guides architecture, integration patterns, and incremental modernization across mainframe and connected platforms, including API enablement and secure integration with distributed and cloud environments while preserving transactional integrity. The role establishes engineering standards and test strategies, reviews designs and code, and builds or maintains Git-based CI/CD workflows. It also supports production readiness and operations through batch scheduling, online transaction support, restart and recovery, monitoring, documentation, incident root-cause analysis, and remediation of technical debt and risk. The engineer communicates decisions, progress, and risks to technical and business stakeholders and works across business, architecture, infrastructure, security, operations, risk, and audit teams. The role is four days onsite and one day work from home.
