About The Position

This role involves operating and setting up various machining equipment, including CNC machines, mills, lathes, and drills. The Senior Machinist will be responsible for editing CNC programs, performing routine maintenance, interpreting blueprints with GD&T, and ensuring production quality and efficiency. This position also involves training new hires and communicating with other departments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of machining processes, mathematics, and a commitment to safety and a clean work environment.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge or reading code and editing programs.
  • Fluent and well versed in blueprint interpretation and title block GD&T.
  • Certificate in machine shop technology or technology/machinist.
  • 5+ years of experience in a machining environment beyond post-secondary or trade school education.
  • Strong analytical, communication and computer skills.
  • Strong understanding of mathematics.
  • Strong communicator and team player.
  • Ability to work independently and with a high attention to detail.
  • Consistently lift and /or move up to 75 pounds, frequently lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Consistently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Responsibilities

  • Set up tool registers, mills, lathes, drills, Bridgeport, switches, offsets, and complex CNC program editing computerized equipment for defined runs with limited supervision or assistance.
  • Run and set up multiple types of equipment such as Swiss tool machines and twin spindle lathes and multi axis VMC’s.
  • Run and set up pallet changers and horizontal mills.
  • Perform routine machinery maintenance and running visual tests on broken or worn parts.
  • Keep inventory records of machine replacement parts.
  • Detect malfunctions in equipment and non-spec parts and provide corrections.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and instruments such as calipers, gauges, indicators, micrometers, and other hand tools.
  • Communicate to other departments status and updates of the machining group.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines in the assembly process.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Lead all cross training and new hire training activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
