About The Position

WB Games Montreal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE), is seeking a Senior Level Artist. In this role, you will work closely with the Lead Level Artist and other members of the environment team to create high-quality environment art and/or props. You will be responsible for creating and refining art assets for assigned aspects of the game and may also assist the lead in defining process and pipelines along with aesthetic goals. To ensure your success, you will regularly share your work and discuss constructively with your team about potential improvements, receive feedback to apply, and ensure that your work respects the established artistic vision of the game. You will communicate frequently with the level designers of the game sections for which you are responsible.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a games artist and having participated in the creation of a AAA title.
  • Person who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys good communication and sharing knowledge.
  • Creative, focused, self-motivated, resourceful problem-solver.
  • Great proficiency using 3D Studio Max or Maya.
  • Experience with a professional game engine is essential.
  • Knowledge of and passion for video games.
  • Portfolio/website demonstrating your art skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine is a desired asset.
  • Proficiency with Zbrush is a plus.
  • Ability to create shaders is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create any required hard surface or organic environment models and textures at a high level of quality while upholding the art direction defined.
  • Produce and iterate on a variety of assets through all phases of production, including blockouts, modular kits, organic assets, hard-surface models, and more.
  • Establish benchmark and quality goals through the creation of high-quality assets and environments.
  • Assist and collaborate with designers in level creation, proposing artistic solutions and supporting gameplay requirements.
  • Identify and address level design/art design challenges that may impact production, providing constructive solutions.
  • Regularly present your work to leadership and swiftly adapt based on feedback.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, brainstorms, and pipeline improvement projects.
  • Mentor other artists on the team by training and sharing knowledge and experience, enhancing the team’s overall skill set.
  • Work with the team to define best practices and workflows for production pipelines.
  • Optimize and debug levels.
  • Troubleshoot levels to ensure they adhere to memory budgets and design specifications.
  • Play the game to develop a strong understanding of the game being developed to better grasp gameplay implications of environmental design and to provide informed feedback on the playable areas.
