About The Position

Augment is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel to own commercial, product and corporate legal work that supports the company’s operations and growth. Reporting directly to the Head of Legal, this role works across product, engineering, operations, compliance and people teams. The position covers commercial contracting from intake through negotiation and signature, product counseling, corporate governance and entity matters, employment advice alongside HR, subpoena responses with Compliance, and litigation management. The counsel will handle routine legal work as well as higher-stakes matters, build scalable legal processes and help grow Augment’s legal team.

Requirements

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
4–7 years of experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm, in-house, or both, with meaningful commercial and corporate experience and experience in regulatory or litigation matters.
Significant experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including NDAs, customer agreements and vendor agreements, and ability to manage high volume.
Hands-on experience with corporate governance and entity management.
Experience advising on employment matters alongside HR, including sensitive issues.
Experience managing litigation, disputes or regulatory inquiries, including supervising outside counsel.
Excellent drafting skills, attention to detail and commercial judgment.
Ability to manage a broad workload and make practical decisions quickly.

Nice To Haves

In-house experience at a fintech, financial services or other regulated technology company.
Product counsel experience, including user terms, disclosures and product launches.
Familiarity with broker-dealer or investment adviser regulatory environments.
Experience with subpoenas, legal process or regulatory document requests.

Responsibilities

Own commercial contracts end to end, including NDAs, customer and vendor agreements, non-standard terms and contract disputes, and share NCNDA work with Augment’s deal lawyers.
Run contract intake and tracking to provide fast, consistent responses to the business.
Build templates, playbooks and intake workflows to help legal operations scale.
Advise Finance and Compliance on entity good standing, registrations, filings and records.
Maintain entity separateness, intercompany arrangements and governance practices across Augment’s operating and regulated entities.
Partner with product, engineering and operations on platform and app features from early design through release.
Own platform terms of use, privacy, user-facing product disclosures and flows; work with Compliance on regulatory questions and support marketing review when legal input is needed.
Provide clear, practical guidance on legal risk to non-lawyers.
Coordinate with deal lawyers on investment features, fund structures, offering documents and settlement mechanics.
Partner with HR on employee matters, including offer letters, policies, multi-state questions, investigations, performance matters, separations and accommodations.
Manage employment claims and engage outside employment counsel when needed.
Help HR develop policies and practices for a remote team operating across multiple states.
Manage disputes, threatened claims and litigation, including outside counsel strategy, budgets and results.
Review and sign off on subpoena and legal process responses with Compliance.
