Sr Lead Software Engineer - Forward Deployed Engineer
About The Position
As a Senior Lead Software Engineer within JPMorganChase’s Payments and Global Banking, Commercial & Industrial Lending division, you will be an integral part of an agile team enhancing, building, and delivering trusted technology products securely, reliably, and at scale. You will apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving skills across technologies and applications to drive business impact. The role includes technical leadership, production software development, and shaping product design, application functionality, and technical operations. You will also advance the adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices, with validation standards and responsible-use controls that support secure, high-quality delivery.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages.
- Demonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, including setting team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations.
- Experience coaching senior engineers or leads on compliant AI usage patterns and controls.
- Ability to independently address design and functionality problems with little to no oversight.
- Practical cloud-native experience.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to partner with bankers and translate complex technical concepts into compelling business narratives.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others.
- Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
- Establish measurable validation standards, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and promote reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
- Apply knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale.
- Drive decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.
- Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus.
- Contribute to the engineering community by advocating for firmwide frameworks, tools, and Software Development Life Cycle practices.
