Senior Lead Software Engineer – Custody & Securities Processing
About The Position
State Street is modernizing a mission-critical custody and securities processing platform that supports high-volume post-trade operations. The platform processes large-scale financial transactions and must meet stringent availability, resiliency, data integrity, and regulatory compliance requirements across legacy and modern technology environments. The Senior Lead Software Engineer provides technical leadership to engineering teams, shaping system architecture and connecting high-level product goals with day-to-day technical execution. The role leads teams responsible for critical financial platforms, navigates complex technical and operational challenges in high-volume transaction processing, influences technology strategy and platform modernization, and drives architectural decisions, integration patterns, and engineering practices. The position is onsite four days per week and remote one day per week. Hours are standard business hours aligned to project and stakeholder needs, stated as 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The listed annual salary range is $120,000 to $217,500 and applies to the primary location; the range may differ if the employee works elsewhere.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of software development experience.
- At least 5 years in a senior technical leadership role.
- Experience overseeing mission-critical enterprise platforms.
- Expertise in transaction processing, systems integration, and architecture.
- Success leading platform modernization and transformation initiatives.
- Experience with both legacy and modern technologies.
- Strong technical, delivery, and people leadership skills.
- Agile delivery experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
