About The Position

The Senior Lead Software Engineer is a hands-on player-coach who partners with business users, product leaders, and technology teams to solve high-value Order Management problems through secure, scalable software. The role spans discovery, solution design, hands-on development, deployment, and adoption, while leading and developing a small pod of engineers. The engineer translates ambiguous needs into production-ready applications, integrations, APIs, and data solutions, measures business impact, and creates reusable engineering patterns for the broader Order Management and enterprise application landscape. The role defines software engineering strategy, technology roadmaps, architecture direction, standards, and reusable practices for the Order Management organization. It serves as the principal technical authority for Order Management application architecture and engineering practices, partnering with senior IT and business leaders on investment priorities and strategic initiatives. The position provides enterprise-level technical leadership through influence, while remaining hands-on in design and delivery and coaching a small engineering team. This position follows a hybrid work model, combining in-person collaboration with remote work. Specific arrangements may vary by team and business needs, and Allegion reserves the right to change the hybrid schedule. Occasional travel to work alongside users and delivery teams may be needed, up to 15%. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; the company does not intend to provide employment visa sponsorship.

  • Experience leading technical delivery across the full software lifecycle, including architecture, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support.
  • Working knowledge of evaluating and governing AI systems, including evaluation frameworks, guardrails, human-in-the-loop design, data privacy, and responsible-AI practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and systems-thinking skills, with judgment to balance rapid delivery with security, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, including explaining complex technical and AI decisions, tradeoffs, and risks to nontechnical and executive stakeholders.
  • Player-coach leadership style, with experience mentoring and technically leading a small team while remaining hands-on and influencing teams without relying on formal authority.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate with autonomy.

  • Own solutions end to end, from development and testing through release, observability, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Work with delivery and operational teams to understand workflows, validate solutions in context, and shorten feedback cycles.
  • Make build, buy, configure, and integrate decisions while balancing speed, scalability, maintainability, risk, and user value.
  • Collaborate with architecture, cybersecurity, data, cloud/platform, product, and support teams to remove delivery barriers and operationalize solutions.
