About The Position

At DraftKings, AI is becoming an integral part of both our present and future, powering how work gets done today, guiding smarter decisions, and sparking bold ideas. It’s transforming how we enhance customer experiences, streamline operations, and unlock new possibilities. Our teams are energized by innovation and readily embrace emerging technology. We’re not waiting for the future to arrive. We’re shaping it, one bold step at a time. To those who see AI as a driver of progress, come build the future together. The Crown Is Yours As a Senior Lead Software Engineer, you’ll lead a small engineering team delivering solutions that put AI to work in production, customer-facing applications, solving meaningful customer and business problems in a high-scale, regulated environment. This is a hands-on engineering role. You’ll own technical design and key engineering decisions, contribute directly to implementation, and guide the team from experimentation through secure, reliable production delivery. You’ll work across application, AI integration, and platform layers, building specialized AI agents, MCP servers/tools, and integrations with internal platforms and external vendors. You’ll also manage and mentor engineers on the team, while keeping your primary focus on engineering execution and technical leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a suitable combination of education, experience, and training.
  • At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, with strong hands-on expertise in C#/.NET.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS and delivering scalable production solutions in the cloud.
  • Experience leading engineers and owning technical direction while remaining actively involved in implementation.
  • Experience working in large, distributed environments where cloud services, internal platforms, and external vendor systems must operate reliably together.
  • Strong proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude and Codex.
  • Interest in, or experience with, building AI agents, MCP tools, and Context Engineering. Deep prior AI-agent expertise is not required if you bring strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to dive deeply into business domains and customer problems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and delivery of customer-facing applications and specialized AI solutions from concept through production.
  • Stay deeply hands-on in engineering, contributing to implementation, code reviews, troubleshooting, and technical problem solving.
  • Build and customize AI agents, including the context, prompts, MCP servers/tools, and integrations required for them to operate effectively.
  • Design and build scalable services using C#/.NET, AWS, and modern distributed-system architectures.
  • Work across back-end, AI integration, and platform boundaries, including integrations with internal systems and external vendors.
  • Lead a small team of engineers through technical direction, mentoring, design discussions, and delivery.
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, business stakeholders, platform teams, and external partners to understand domain-specific customer problems and turn them into practical technical solutions.
  • Drive solutions to meet the reliability, security, observability, and operational standards required for high-scale, regulated customer-facing systems.
  • Be highly proficient with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude and Codex across coding, technical design, analysis, and problem solving.
