About The Position

OBXtek is staffing a Senior IT Systems/Network Engineer to support the Army’s Unified Network Modernization (UNM) and Installation Network Modernization (INM) organizations. The role provides technical leadership and engineering support for network infrastructure modernization, integrated IT systems, cloud solutions, and enterprise data management. The position is 100% in-office at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and some CONUS and OCONUS travel can be expected.

Requirements

Active Secret security clearance.
At least 10 years of hands-on experience in network engineering and IT systems design and integration.
At least 5 years of experience working with virtualization and cloud environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
One of the following certifications or equivalent: CCNA, JNCIA, CCNP, or JCNP.

Responsibilities

Review engineering designs and implementation plans for network infrastructure modernization projects to ensure compliance with established network architecture.
Oversee LAN/MAN/WAN surveys, design, and implementation.
Provide technical leadership in integrating and testing complex, large-scale integrated networks.
Assist in developing emerging network architectures, standards, and specifications.
Assess LAN/MAN/WAN hardware and recommend network equipment based on performance and specifications.
Evaluate current and emerging network technologies, considering factors such as cost, maturity, readiness, compatibility, portability, and usability.
Provide technical direction for IT projects, including high-availability and virtualization initiatives.
Collaborate with developers, designers, product owners, and partner organizations to develop prototype software and hardware solutions.
Consult with agencies and programs to determine suitable cloud solutions, evaluate environments for migration, work in sandboxes, and architect solutions tailored to Army needs.
Coordinate solution design and architecture with project teams to align with Army projects.
Guide implementation teams on technical matters and implementation priorities.
Coordinate technical execution of transformation projects and deconflict activities.
Design, develop, and implement an enterprise data management solution to enhance customer operations.
Lead customer engagements to determine requirements and provide technical updates to the Product Manager.
Assess infrastructure modernization and project costs, design concepts, and design changes.
Evaluate and document design specifications, installation instructions, and other infrastructure- or system-related information.
Verify the stability, interoperability, portability, security, and scalability of system architecture.
Collaborate with engineers or software developers to select design solutions and ensure compatibility of infrastructure and system components, including COT integration.
Provide technical guidance or support for system development and troubleshooting.
Identify ICT infrastructure components needed to meet requirements and ensure secure systems.
Analyze the integration and operation of ICT infrastructure components and systems.
Investigate whether system components are suitable for specified purposes and recommend their use.
Develop or approve project plans, schedules, and budgets.
Define and analyze objectives, scope, issues, and organizational impact of ICT infrastructure.
Establish standards that address operational and quality requirements and design constraints.
Evaluate existing infrastructure for effectiveness and recommend changes to meet requirements.
Research, test, or verify the proper function of patches and fixes.
Communicate project information through presentations, technical reports, and white papers.
Analyze or predict system performance under different operating conditions.
Support the TMD lead as required.
