The role works closely with on-site hardware labs, product teams, Core Payments engineering, and global engineering groups to deliver fast, reliable, and secure mobile payment experiences. The engineer will design and maintain native iOS SDKs and frameworks that communicate with Bluetooth Low Energy card readers, smart accessories, and terminal hardware; integrate payment processing and security features; and debug and optimize devices in a hardware lab. The role emphasizes clean, maintainable Swift and Objective-C code, thread safety, low latency, and robust offline-first operation. This role is on-site Monday through Friday in Sunnyvale, California. It requires use of a computer and audio equipment. The stated salary range for Sunnyvale employees is $140,000 to $210,000. • Partner with backend and Core Payments teams to integrate transaction processing, tokenization, refunds, and secure cryptographic communications on iOS.
  • Use the Sunnyvale hardware lab for hardware-in-the-loop debugging, reader firmware testing, and performance optimization.
  • Write clean, maintainable Swift and Objective-C components emphasizing thread safety, low latency, and robust offline-first execution.
  • Serve as a U.S.-based technical lead for iOS hardware integrations, coordinating communication between local lab teams and global engineering groups.
