About The Position

Equus is hiring its first dedicated integration engineer to bring the EQUS Developer Toolkit to organizations including regulated institutions, employers, education providers, public bodies, and digital platforms. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role in which you will lead customers from initial architecture discussions through production launch, designing solutions, connecting identity and back-end systems, and supporting security reviews. You will share customer insights with the product team and improve integration processes, documentation, and reusable resources as the team grows. You may also work on other EQUS products over time. The position is remote and limited to candidates based in the United States. The company does not provide H-1B visa support. Equus is building privacy-first AI, identity, and trust infrastructure intended to give individuals control over their digital identity and data.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as solutions engineer, integration engineer, or technical consultant for an API or identity product.
  • Experience personally taking enterprise customers from pilot to production, including security reviews and vendor due diligence.
  • Fluency in OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, including troubleshooting rejected tokens.
  • Hands-on experience with REST APIs and at least one back-end language: TypeScript/Node, Java/Kotlin, or Python.
  • Ability to read OpenAPI specifications and write back-end code for sample integrations.
  • Working understanding of X.509 certificates, trust anchors, and key management.
  • Clear written communication for integration designs, security responses, and public documentation.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and designing around a product roadmap.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time, and keep multiple customer integrations moving.
  • Must be based in the United States; H-1B visa support is not available.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in regulated or security-conscious sectors such as banking, insurance, government, healthcare, or education.
  • Experience with verifiable credentials and digital identity standards, including OID4VCI, OID4VP, SD-JWT VC, or ISO 18013-5 mdoc.
  • Experience with eIDAS 2.0 and the EU Digital Identity Wallet ecosystem.
  • Experience with enterprise identity providers such as Microsoft Entra, Okta, or Ping.
  • Experience with payments, open banking, or agentic-payment protocols such as AP2.

Responsibilities

  • Design customer solutions for use cases such as KYC status, employee or student IDs, qualifications, age checks, memberships, and AI-agent payment mandates, including issuance and presentation flows, wallet models, and build methods.
  • Lead technical onboarding, provision sandbox and production tenants, issue client credentials, configure Issuers, Verifiers, and credential schemas, and enable and track requested features and quota increases.
  • Connect customer identity systems and guide IAM teams through Bring Your Own IdP using OpenID Connect, Authorization Server registration, and OAuth client-credentials setup.
  • Specify and review customer Attribute Provider endpoints and help customer engineers debug integrations using request IDs, error codes, and rate-limit headers.
  • Support front-end teams with embedding the EQUS UI under security and allowed-origin policies, applying branding, and enabling the browser Digital Credentials API on supported devices.
  • Lead EU Digital Identity Wallet readiness, including moving Verifiers to X.509, securing registration certificates from national Registrars, and configuring trusted roots.
  • Handle technical security and procurement activities, including due-diligence questionnaires and security reviews using data-handling, encryption, DPA, and TOMs documentation.
  • Support business development in technical sales conversations by explaining integration requirements to prospective customers.
  • Represent customer needs to the product team, prioritize gaps that block deals, and work with engineering and partners on fixes.
  • Improve integration efficiency by writing quickstarts, help-center articles, sample code, and a reusable customer integration pack with sector variants, a flow decision tree, security answers, and a go-live checklist.
  • Manage multiple customer integrations independently in a remote setting and adapt to product areas that are still being developed.
