The Department of Biology at the University of Rochester is seeking to fill a non-tenure track, instructional faculty position in Introductory Biology at the rank of Lecturer. This full-time, nine-month position begins August 2026 and includes benefits. The primary responsibilities involve teaching two major courses, Principles of Biology I (BIOL 110) and Principles of Biology II (BIOL 111), each with approximately 200 students. Additionally, the role includes overseeing the laboratory accompanying Principles of Biology II (BIOL 111P), which has around 300 students across multiple sections. After the first year, additional duties may be assigned, such as teaching an additional biology course or undergraduate advising. Pending satisfactory performance, candidates may be eligible for the newly established instructional faculty track with multi-year appointments and promotion possibilities.
