About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a seasoned Senior Infrastructure Developer to join its App and Web Engineering team. The role builds reliable Java applications, APIs, and platform services that simplify how application teams provision, configure, validate, and operate enterprise hosting platforms. It is suited to a hands-on developer who writes clean, testable code, understands the operational demands of large-scale server environments, and treats quality, security, maintainability, and production readiness as core engineering responsibilities. The developer leads by example across analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support. The position creates modular Java and Spring Boot services, defines automated test strategies with QA partners, enforces code-quality standards in CI/CD, reviews designs and pull requests, resolves defects, and uses production feedback to improve reliability. It also develops Ansible automation as needed to connect services with application and web server operations. The role participates in Agile delivery and production support, builds self-service platform capabilities for development teams, and mentors engineers in Java development, testing, secure coding, troubleshooting, and modern software engineering practices. The position has a hybrid work schedule and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, education, or a combination.
  • At least 4 years of software engineering experience delivering production Java applications or backend services.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on Core Java development with modern Java versions, including object-oriented design, collections, streams, exception handling, concurrency, and common design patterns.
  • At least 4 years of experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, RESTful services, dependency injection, validation, security, and API design.
  • Experience with Maven or Gradle; Git-based workflows, pull requests, peer reviews, branching strategies, semantic versioning, and software release management.
  • Experience integrating automated tests, code coverage, static analysis, security scanning, and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of the SDLC, Agile delivery, secure coding, clean-code practices, documentation, observability, debugging, root-cause analysis, and production support.
  • At least 4 years of experience deploying or supporting application and web servers such as Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, IBM WebSphere Liberty, or NGINX.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of frontend development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript or TypeScript, and a modern framework such as Angular or React, including REST API integration and basic UI testing.
  • Experience with test-driven development, behavior-driven development, contract testing, test data management, service virtualization, and performance or resilience testing.
  • Experience with code-quality and security tools such as SonarQube, JaCoCo, Checkstyle, SpotBugs, SAST, dependency scanning, and secrets detection.
  • Experience developing Java services using JPA or Hibernate, relational databases, messaging platforms, caching, and asynchronous processing.
  • Experience documenting and testing APIs with OpenAPI or Swagger, Postman, and automated API test frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of JVM behavior, memory management, threading, class loading, performance tuning, and application-server internals.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift, containerized Java workloads, and hybrid cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with observability tools and practices, including structured logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, alerting, and service-level indicators.
  • Hands-on experience developing Ansible automation for infrastructure provisioning and configuration using roles, collections, inventories, variables, templates, and Ansible Vault.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications and Spring Boot services supporting application and web server platform capabilities.
  • Build secure, versioned REST APIs for provisioning, configuration, deployment governance, certificate management, validation, and capacity workflows.
  • Apply object-oriented design, SOLID principles, design patterns, exception handling, concurrency, dependency management, and performance engineering.
  • Create automated tests using tools such as JUnit, Mockito, REST Assured, and test containers, covering unit, component, integration, API, regression, and negative scenarios.
  • Partner with QA engineers on acceptance criteria, test plans, test data, environment needs, traceability, release validation, and defect-resolution strategies.
  • Integrate build, test, security, code coverage, static analysis, and deployment controls into CI/CD pipelines using Maven or Gradle and enterprise delivery tooling.
  • Use code reviews, quality metrics, observability, root-cause analysis, and production feedback to prevent defects and improve software reliability.
  • Develop reusable, idempotent Ansible roles and collections to automate server installation, configuration, JVM tuning, certificate operations, patching, compliance, and policy enforcement.
  • Build self-service capabilities for requesting server instances, deploying applications, configuring routing, requesting certificates, managing JNDI resources, and consuming platform metrics.
  • Participate in Agile planning, estimation, demonstrations, retrospectives, technical design reviews, release readiness reviews, and production support.
  • Mentor engineers in Java development, automated testing, secure coding, code review, troubleshooting, and modern software engineering practices.
